Big Sky Predictions, 8-24

Post by JALMOND »

Fresh start for the season and the first conference game involves the usual Big Sky vs FBS. Only this time it involves one of our own heavy hitters (Montana State) against a team (New Mexico) that was near the bottom of FBS last year, but with a new coach and a new outlook. Still, the Bobcats look good on paper, with a strong returning quarterback and excellent running backs (do they ever have a year off in that department?) and the Lobos are adjusting. Have to go with the mild upset here...MSU 22, New Mexico 20.

It's hard to know what to expect from New Mexico with all the transfers they brought in, but they'll have to be noticeably better than they were last year to beat the Bobcats. I think UNM will cover, though, given how insane the line movement has been toward MSU. I'll go 31-23 Bobcats.

Good pick. I think I read that the Cats are double digit favorites?

Not looking good for the 'Cats. They trail 31-21 with 6:something to go, and they just turned it over on downs.

They came back to win 35-31 for the first scalp of the year....

(Which you noted in the Week 0 thread.)

Solid road win. Their composure continues to impress.

I am somewhat surprised they were able to pull that off. The Bobcat offense isn't exactly designed for coming back late in games.

Mellott made some nice throws on that last drive, though.

I'll take it. 1-0 to start the year.

Is it safe to say that the Big Sky pwns the Mountain West now?
