It seems like the Power 5 conferences are using the Pioneer League as their geographic model these days.

Yep. Lol there’s nothing ‘Pacific’ about S Florida (or any of those 4 schools for that matter).

True but TV market size is more important right now than geography. It can pay the bills perhaps more so than attendance.

And now you have SAC potentially joining the fray.

TV market size matters for the B1G0 and SEC but the change in fortunes for the Sunbelt & CUSA have shown that it probably doesn't matter for lower tier conferences. It remains to be seen where the PAC lies in that discussion.

Is the PAC looking at TV market size or quality of competition and impact on recruiting? They clearly want to be the 5th best conference, and possibly 4th if the ACC implodes.

I just read that they want UNLV and Utah State now as well as the others. That would be a strong conference, but not a "Power" conference in my opinion.

I've heard that while UT State has apparently signed on to form the Pac-7, NV-Las Vegas is apparently sticking with the Mountain West. And three Eastern schools, including Memphis State and South Florida, have declined what they felt to be insulting offers....

Bingo what possessed SOUTH FLORIDA to join this league that's like Stanford joining the ACC

What about Hawaii they are in the Pacific
