Conference by Conference Breakdown - Week 6

Post by Mvemjsunpx »

Big Sky

UCD 27-26 PORTST
IDST 41-38 CP
NAU 17-23 IDA
WEB 55-48 UMT (OT)
NOCO 17-55 MTST

  • NConf Record: 0-0
    Overall: 22-24

    vs. FCS: 0-0
    Overall: 17-12

Best Performance: Weber St. 55, (#8) Montana 48 (OT) - Richie Muñoz throws for 364 yards and 6 touchdowns on just 28 attempts as his Wildcats burn down Washington-Grizzly Stadium.

Worst Performance: Northern Colorado 17, (#3) Montana St. 55 - Ed Lamb built Southern Utah's program into something respectable 10-15 years ago, but Northern Colorado—now 0-17 since he took over—isn't showing any signs of turning around anytime soon.

Most Surprising Result: (#8) Montana 48, Weber St. 55 (OT) - Montana has now given up 104 points in 2 conference games so far. Last year, when they won the Big Sky, the Griz allowed a total of 116 points over the entire conference season. :o :suspicious:

Southland

MCNSE 22-43 HCU
NWST 17-59 SFA
PVAMU 28-56 UIW
TAMUC 9-21 SELU
NICH 51-7 SU

  • NConf Record: 2-0

    vs. FCS: 2-0
    Overall: 14-14

Best Performance: Houston Christian 43, (#22) McNeese St. 22 - The Huskies eviscerated the Cowboy defense as they outgained McNeese 622-341 and outrushed them 414-105.

Worst Performance: Northwestern St. 17, Stephen F. Austin 59 - Committing 5 turnovers and allowing 623 yards results in yet another blowout loss for the Demons.

Most Surprising Result: (#22) McNeese St. 22, Houston Christian 43 - Clifton McDowell, in falling to 16-3 as a DI starter, goes 1/12 passing for 36 yards and a pick. :?

Missouri Valley

UND 17-41 NDSU
SDKST 41-3 UNI
ILST 45-10 SIU
INST 14-21 YSU
SDK 59-0 MUR

  • NConf Record: 0-0
    Overall: 23-19

    vs. FCS: 0-0
    Overall: 21-7

Best Performance: (#2) North Dakota St. 41, (#7) North Dakota 17 - After a one-year hiccup, the Bison easily reclaim the Nickel Trophy as they move to 6-1 against UND since they both moved up to DI.

Worst Performance: (#19) Southern Illinois 10, (#18) Illinois St. 45 - The Salukis won total offense 487-407 and only lost turnovers 2-1, so why was this game so lopsided? SIU went 1/4 on fourth down and lost penalties 12-1 (109-8 for penalty yardage).

Most Surprising Result: (#19) Southern Illinois 10, (#18) Illinois St. 45 - I know QB injuries have been a factor, but the Salukis have fallen off a cliff since they beat Incarnate Word.

UAC

TARL 38-37 SUU (OT)
UCA 34-41 ACU
AP 20-16 UWG
UTU 14-60 UNA

  • NConf Record: 0-0

    Overall: 11-10

Best Performance: (#16) Abilene Christian 41, (#5) Central Arkansas 34 - Texas Tech transfer Nehemiah Martinez catches 7 balls for 202 yards and 3 touchdowns to help the Wildcats establish themselves as legit contenders.

Worst Performance: Utah Tech 14, North Alabama 60 - The Blazers fall behind 60-0 against a team they lost to by 1 point last year. :suspicious:

Most Surprising Result: (#5) Central Arkansas 34, (#16) Abilene Christian 41 - The Bears, who were a bad replay review away from being 5-0 coming in, lose to ACU for the first time since their first meeting 10 years ago.

Pioneer

PRESBY 21-27 USD (OT)
STET 24-34 STTHOM
DRAKE 27-3 VALPO
MHEAD 6-40 BUT
MARIST 19-42 DVDSN

  • NConf Record: 0-0

    vs. FCS: 0-0
    Overall: 4-17

Best Performance: Butler 40, Morehead St. 6 - Over the last 3 years, the Bulldogs have outscored Morehead 145-33.

Worst Performance: Stetson 24, St. Thomas 34 - The Hatters fall to the reeling Tommies and lose their 8th. in a row against DI opponents.

Most Surprising Result: San Diego 27, Presbyterian 21 (OT) - The Toreros were held to 32 rushing yards by one of the PFL's seemingly weaker teams, but they still prevailed thanks to an 87-yard fumble-return touchdown in overtime.

One error I corrected above: Richie Muñoz's 6 TD passes were not a Weber record; Jamie Martin had 7 against EWU in 1991.

My Eagles from NC CENTRAL laid the SMACKDOWN on the Fighting Camels we are now ranked nationally 25th.I wonder what they are going to do after the season is over will they go to the Celebration Bowl or will they take another bite at the FCS PLAYOFFS?????? The Bulldogs of South Carolina St scored only 22 pts inspite of the fact that the QB Eric Phoenix put up MADDEN TYPE NUMBERS of 412 passing yds. They should have put 40 pts or more if you throw for 400 plus yds.I hope he gets attention from the FCS for Offensive Player Of The Week!!!!!

My Eagles are red hot vs The CAA and South Carolina St should have scored 40 or more points on Tech and the Bulldogs need to work on the pass defense they got torched for 300 yds by a Sophomore QB.Hope NCCU get some looks from the FCS COMMITTEE for the playoffs.
