Mark Farley will retire at Northern Iowa after 24 seasons when this year concludes. His record with the Panthers stands at 181-109 with 2 games remaining. Farley won double-digit games in 7 of his first 11 seasons (including a title-game appearance in 2005), but only once since (2019). He also hasn't won more than 6 games in a season since COVID started.

And a collective sigh from ‘88, Clenz, Fiver and all the rest.

Fox went 21-42 in 6 years and only went over .500 in Spring '21.

Scott Abell Leaves Davidson
Posted: Tue Nov 26, 2024 8:04 pm
by Mvemjsunpx
Abell is taking the head coach job at Rice. He went 47-28 in 7 seasons with the Wildcats after his predecessor went 7-43. Davidson won the Pioneer twice and made the playoffs 3 times under Abell (Spring '21, 2021, 2022).

Norfolk Fires Dawson Odums

by Mvemjsunpx
Odums went 63-32 at Southern, but he couldn't replicate that success with the Spartans (15-31).

Bubba Schweigert Out at North Dakota
Posted: Sat Nov 30, 2024 2:55 pm
by Mvemjsunpx
Unclear how voluntary this is, but he'll become an Associate AD. Schweigert went 66-57 in 11 seasons in Grand Forks. He shared the Big Sky title in 2016 and had 5 playoff appearances. Schweigert's teams only went 1-5 in those postseason contests, however.

Tim Rebowe Retires from Nicholls
Posted: Mon Dec 02, 2024 8:30 pm
by Mvemjsunpx
Rebowe went 57-56 in 10 seasons with the Colonels. That record isn't impressive on the surface, but it was vast turnaround from the 10-47 mark they had over the previous 5 seasons. Under Rebowe, Nicholls won 3 Southland titles, they went to the playoffs 4 times, and they had 2 first-round wins.
DC Tommy Rybacki has been promoted to head coach with Rebowe out.

Delaware State Fires Lee Hull

They also fired the AD. Hull went 2-21 in 2 seasons with the Hornets.

NC A&T Fires Vincent Brown

by Mvemjsunpx
Brown won exactly 1 game in each of his 2 years after the Aggies had gone no worse than 5-6 in their previous 11 seasons.

Makes sense. Massive pay raise even if he’s a position coach.

Reported in the Spokesman that his contract was extended two years without public announcement before previous AD Lynn Hickey retired. It took a public records request to get the details and facts.
Nice parting shot.
$250,000 to buy out both years. He’s likely staying unless a well heeled donor forks it up. Tougher to raise half of the $25 million for the approved stadium renovation without some new life breathed into performance on the field.
Oh well. Welcome to Cheney.
