• Best Performance: (#1) Montana St. 49, Tennessee-Martin 17 - Tommy Mellott only ran for 19 yards, but he went 22/25 passing for a career-high 300 yards and 4 TDs in a surprisingly dominant Bobcat victory.
  
  Worst Performance: Lehigh 13, (#8) Idaho 34 - The Mountain Hawks get crushed in the Kibbie Dome after throwing a pick-six, going 0/3 on fourth down, and allowing 318 yards on just 22 pass attempts to Idaho QB Jack Layne.
  
  Most Surprising Result: (#13) Tarleton St. 31, (#4) South Dakota 42 - Texan QB Victor Gabalis went 23/31 for 379 yards and 4 touchdowns, but 3 of his 8 incompletions were picked off.

SWAC Championship Game

• Best Performance: (#18) Jackson State 41, Southern 13 - The Tigers force 4 turnovers and win the SWAC for the 3rd. time in 4 seasons. This was also their first non-Deion SWAC title since 2007.
  
  Worst Performance: Southern 13, (#18) Jackson St. 41 - The Jaguars have now lost their last 5 SWAC Championship games.
  
  Most Surprising Result: (none)

UAC performed well. I was impressed with ACU. Great talent on that team.

Yeah. I thought ACU might put a scare into NDSU with McIvor back and their defense playing surprisingly well against NAU. Ironically, McIvor ended up being the Wildcats' weak link Saturday.

For Tarleton, Gabalis's 3 second-half picks finished them off against SoDak. Aside from the INTs, though, he shredded the Coyote defense (23/31, 379 yards, 4 TDs). That could be a problem for USD against Miles Hastings, who's been on fire the last 2 months.
