HAMMOND, La. - Entering its fifth season since the historic return of football in 2003, Southeastern Louisiana welcomes a new coach and a new offensive system as it continues to build a solid Division I program.
Under first-year head coach Mike Lucas, Southeastern welcomes back 39 letterwinners led by All-Southland Conference selections Jay Lucas and Tommy Connors. And with the loss of 21 seniors from last year’s team, Southeastern will look for many of its younger players – particularly on the defensive side of the ball – to make immediate contributions to the 2007 squad.
“We’re going to be a very young team when you look at our depth chart,” Mike Lucas, a longtime veteran of the Southland Conference, said. “We’re going to be very heavy with sophomores and redshirt freshmen. We’ll be young, but we’ll be very athletic.
