Not even close, 30-4, also approved table games, thus putting a couple more nails in Atlantic City's coffin.

And the FCS playoff issue rears its ugly head again! 'Course, if Keeler's boys go 4-8 again, it's all moot.

The Senate also passed the bill tonight 17-2 and it is on to a promised signature from the Governor.

The bill excludes betting on any collegiate or amateur team in Delaware.

yet another state decides that rather than generating revenue in a legitimate way... it's going to resort to gambling... pathetic.

It truly sickens me to drive across Montana and see "Casino" at every gas station, quickmart and corner drug store. Can't swing a dead cat without hitting a Keno or poker machine.TwinTownBisonFan wrote:yet another state decides that rather than generating revenue in a legitimate way... it's going to resort to gambling... pathetic.

The NFL has filed a brief with the Delaware Supreme Court in opposition to the bill. Stay tuned!

Taxing people even more against their will is the better answer?TwinTownBisonFan wrote:yet another state decides that rather than generating revenue in a legitimate way... it's going to resort to gambling... pathetic.
Re: Reversal: Delaware House Passes Sports Betting
Doesn't the Delaware Chancery Court usually rule fairly liberally pro-new business (ie the casinos in this case, not the NFL)? It seems every ruling I see says "yes, yes, yes" to anyone who wants to set up shop here, regardless of local opposition.Ivytalk wrote:The NFL has filed a brief with the Delaware Supreme Court in opposition to the bill. Or does the Supreme Court hear this and avoid the Chancery altogether?

Couldn't agree more Bobby. I like the idea of a voluntary tax imposed on others instead of a mandatory tax imposed on a hard-working, moderately high income earning individual like me.bobbythekidd wrote:Taxing people even more against their will is the better answer?TwinTownBisonFan wrote:yet another state decides that rather than generating revenue in a legitimate way... it's going to resort to gambling... pathetic.
That being said, I also agree with Ivy and others who lambast this state for its freewheeling spending. I don't like the idea that this will support that habit, but something has to be done, and I'd rather tap the revenue stream of the 100 million potential gamblers that live within a day's drive than my own pocket.
That's just me being selfish.

I thought this was really interesting. If you watch the clip that's on the attached link it's from E:60 from ESPN. They interview the Director of Gaming for the NCAA, did anyone even know there was one?
Anyway she's quoted on Montana having postseason events as "that was an administrative oversight and it won't be repeated". So they're threatening two of the biggest postseason draws, Missoula & Newark, with no playoff games at home? I'll believe that when I see it.

This has been set up as an "Opinion of the Justices," in which the Supreme Court has original jurisdiction. Chancery won't get a shot at this.93henfan wrote:Doesn't the Delaware Chancery Court usually rule fairly liberally pro-new business (ie the casinos in this case, not the NFL)? Well, if they would follow through with it, it'd probably be a race to see which school moves up to FBS quicker.dbackjon wrote:What, the NCAA trying to kill FCS?bluehenbillk wrote:http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/news/story?id=4162225

I am sure the NCAA wants to keep cashing the checks that they get from the UM. I can guarantee it!dbackjon wrote:What, the NCAA trying to kill FCS?bluehenbillk wrote:http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/news/story?id=4162225
