PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Nicholls State junior defensive back Ladarius Webb picked up his third national award of the week with The Sports Network naming him national defensive player of the week on Tuesday morning. The honor comes after he led the Colonels to victory over Football Bowl Subdivision foe Rice on Saturday.
In addition, four Southland teams appear in this week's national top-25 poll released by TSN.
McNeese State moved up three spots to No. 7 after a convincing 35-12 over then-No. 13 Portland State. The Cowboys take this weekend off before heading to in-state rival Louisiana-Lafayette on Sept. 15.
Sam Houston State is up two spots to No. 16 after its season-opening win over Angelo State by a 17-13 mark. The Bearkats look to start 2-0 for the seventh time in school history as they welcome Arkansas-Monticello to town on Saturday.
