Let's meet another member of the coaching staff

Mike Wood - Running Backs Coach
Experience: Fourth Year
Alma Mater: McDaniel '01

Mike Wood begins his fourth season at UMass. In 2009, Wood moved from coaching tight ends to coaching UMass' running backs.

In 2006, Wood tutored tight end Brad Listorti as he earned Second-Team All-Conference honors. Listorti emerged as one of the nation's top tight ends with 38 catches. He enters 2007 with a 14-game pass-catch streak. Wood

Wood had served as an assistant coach at Gettysburg College for three of the past four years. He spent the 2002, 2004 and 2005 seasons with the Bullets wrapped around a season with the NFL's Jacksonville Jaguars. He spent 2005 season as Gettysburg's Special Teams Coordinator/Tight Ends/Offensive Line Assistant Coach after serving as the Special Teams/Defensive Line/Strength Coach in 2004 with the Bullets. He was also a member of the 2002 staff, coaching the outside linebackers that season.

Between his years at Gettysburg, he served as an Intern Special Teams Coach/Strength and Conditioning coach with the Jacksonville Jaguars for the 2003 season.

As a student-athlete at Western Maryland College -- now McDaniel College -- in Westminster, Maryland, he was an outside linebacker on four consecutive Centennial Conference championship teams. He graduated from McDaniel in 2001 with a degree in sociology and spent the 2001 football season as an assistant coach at the Charter School of Wilmington.

A native of Wilmington, Del., Wood and his wife Katie reside in Amherst.
