The last two years they have played against two FCS Programs and have had their way. I will not try to hide the fact that I know nothing about them but I admire their accomplishments. So hopefully someone call enlighten me.

Chadron is a D2, located in the Nebraska panhandle, not too far from Rapid City, SD. Relatively small team, yet, they can beat Big Sky teams without a lot of effort. A lot of guys I went to HS with played for Chadron..

Here a story from last year about the player who is a big reason for Chadron's success the last couple of years - Danny Woodhead.

Woodhead is the main reason Chadron is doing so well. Yesterday he had 147 yds. rushing and 133 yds. receiving for 280 yds. and he didn't play the 4th qtr.

CSC plays in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. By conference rule, football scholarship limit is set at 28. Chadron only has 21 to work with. They have had a very long tenure with most of the current coaching staff. Head Coach Bill O'Boyle was a long time OC and OL coach under former HC and current AD Brad Smith. This is O'Boyles third season at the helm.
Chadron has long stocked its roster with over looked players from mostly Nebraska, Wyoming, and Colorado. Better mention South Dakota as well. They have made their program successful by recruiting the D-1 player trapped in a D-2 body. Their most famous player has his name on their stadium, former All-Pro and six time Superbowl performer, Don Beebe.
Danny Woodhead is listed at 5' 9" and 200#. I believe the weight listed is the most accurate of the two. He is garnering NFL attention as of late, and rightfully so. The links provided by lifesapuntreturn are worthy reads. Better than that, I recommend taking the time, if possible, to see this guy play live.
In the third week of October, Chadron State will play a game on National TV on Thursday night against in state rival Nebraska Kearney. It will air on CSTV and Altitude I believe.
Chadron is so underfunded in not only football but all other sports as well. They have no delusions of becoming a division 1 program, and are a perfect example of a small school, in a small town, doing the best with what it has and being the epitome of what D-II football is all about.

All great posts. Chadron manhandled UNC and have a nice squad this year. The only problem I saw is that besides Woodhead they didn't seem to have a whole lot else - he is a one man wrecking crew. I hope they keep it up after he graduates.

They may not have much more than Whitehead but he is excellent. Legit sub 4.5 speed and can take hits. He ran through Montana St last year and is proving it was no fluke as he did it to UNC this year (Billings West could probably beat UNC this year) but a good win anyway.

Excellent article on Chadron's Danny Woodhead. Montana State fans still remember him, I'm sure.

Why isn't Chadron DI? I'll tell you why. It's a piss ant little school five miles from the middle of nowhere in an area of the country non-existant to commercial flights.
Funny story, I was in Nebraska on business in the early 1990s and had to meet someone on the Chadron campus. I blew the meeting because I couldn't find the place. I kept driving past it without realizing it was a university.

Woodhead is Chadron. Without him, they are an average DII team at gbest.
