UNI is getting brand new turf, for the first time since 1992, and it is currently being installed. The have set up a live cam to follow the construction. For those familiar with the dome, this is facing the north side of the dome, with the garage door and locker rooms.

Now only Idaho State and North Dakota State need to get rid of that crappy stuff. I tore my legs up every year at the Idaho State Football camp when i was in highschool, and i remember that horrible injury when Ryan Bagely Broke his arm in 07 on that field, could just see his arm snap

I didn't think it was possible, but UNI and the Internet have made it so — a live webcam has been set up for the express purpose of allowing people to watch fake grass grow

They are actually laying the turf now, and it looks amazing. The video doesn't do it justice color wise. They are so bright it is crazy

I've enjoyed watching the daily progress. The turf does look great and I like the updated UNI logo at midfield. Very sharp. :thumb:

Check out the photo gallaries they are uploading from time to time. The cam honestly doesn't show how bright the colors are at all. They look nice online, but in person the yellow, purple and green are SO bright it is amazing.

Another bump. Just about done, now they are just adding the final lines in, which could take awhile. This seems to be a tedious task as they cut the green part out to make room for the white lines to be glued down. The hash marks could take awhile.

I took some pictures on my Delve while at work earlier and I'll post them, sorry if the quality is bad, I tried to get it to be decent quality.

FWIW the following FCS programs have sand paper turf...off the top of my head

NDSU
UND
USD

I think I'm missing one or two, but mostly it's just the Dakota's minus SDSU

why are the seats different colors? and why not hang signs or banners to cover up the concrete walls.

HAHA, you'd love it in town right now. Volleyball camps going on, girls basketball camps going on around campus, summer in CF.

You'd never leave the UNIDome/WRC/McLeod premise if you looked at this stuff all day.

Seats are different colors because that is they way they are. I don't know why, they have been for years. Some would like to see them purple and yellow but that costs money...something UNI doens't have.

Again, covering walls costs money...something UNI doesn't have.

The seats are still the original seats I think. I know there are plans to redo more of the dome, and I don't know of the seatbacks are one of them. I know the scoreboards are next.

Just a guess, but I think a lot of these smaller domes were built in the 70's when people had horrible taste in color schemes. :?: :?:

The dome opened in 76 so that would probably be the reason
