Will FCS Weber beat FBS COLORADO ST, Sep 12?
Will WSU beat CSU?
Sac St could have and should have and last season CSU went 7-5 with a bowl appearance and win.
CSU lost a bit of players including the QB.
CSU was luckier to beat Sac St last year than Wyo was beating ND St which both games were VERY close.

I say no. And I still say Weber finishes at #3 or 4 in the conference this year. Sorry.

Yes, Weber will roll CSU because they're the kings of the world.

Probably not. CSU is a bit better than Wyoming.

Who's going to finish ahead of them (other than Montana)? EWU has no running game and big pass defense questions while MSU's offense still doesn't appear to have much potency. EWU does get Weber at home, but I don't think that'll be enough.Willie wrote:And I still say Weber finishes at #3 or 4 in the conference this year. Sorry.
Weber has questions on defense, but their offense appears to be the most dangerous in FCS this year.

Weber may win either or both but I think they lose at least one of the games but more likely both.

Re: Will FCS Weber beat FBS COLORADO ST, Sep 12?
Will Weber beat CSU.... It would be nice to see, but most likely wont happen. However, CSU did lose their all-conference running back and some other personel, but CSU looks like they are headed in the right direction, they finished really strong last year, and that could give them a lot of confidence heading into this season. As for the Sky, its going to be better than it was last year. UNC and SAC will both be better, but the bad thing for them is that everyone else in the Sky is going to be better also. Eastern could end up laying an egg, since they don't have much to play for, but pride. Regardless, Eastern could pull off some huge wins because they want to make a statment, they definitely have the talent to. Montana, State, and Weber will be at the top for sure. NAU...one never knows, but I'm sure they will end up with a 7-4 or 6-5 record.
As for Weber's finish in the Sky...well...their offense is sooo good and experienced that even good defenses will have a hard time slowing them down. However, the defense is the wildcard. Mac did say that it was the best defense that he has seen since coming to Weber State. It could be just talk, but he is a defensive coach. My worry is the new coaches...The offense really profited because of the great play calling from the OC.
I don't think anyone will know how good Weber will be till Sept. 5.

Re: Will FCS Weber beat FBS COLORADO ST, Sep 12?
I think Weber will have a better chance beating Wyoming then CSU mainly because of these factors:
-Wyoming has a new head coach
-They are having a brand new offense installed
-Its opening weekend
-Wyoming Defense/offense are question marks
-Webers offense is potent, great defense according to mac
They will probably not beat CSU due to these factors:
-Second road trip to a team with alot more depth
-Second week of the season, more time for CSU to get used to new personel
-CSU veteran coach, players that know system
-Did lose alot on offense but still return some weapons, returning a veteran defense
-Weber may be cocky if/when they beat wyoming
so im giving Weber a 1-1 vs FBS in 09.

Those are good reasons Tbird and if they do go 1-1 then it would be a very respectable start considering the competition.SUUTbird wrote:I think Weber will have a better chance beating Wyoming then CSU mainly because of these factors:

Re: Will FCS Weber beat FBS COLORADO ST, Sep 12?
How is Wyoming's defense a question mark? They were a top 40 defense last year, despite being 4-8 last year. They retained the LB coach to be the new DC, who was the mastermind of the current D. My only worry is the passing attack with two receivers being suspended, the WR corps might be thin.SUUTbird wrote:I think Weber will have a better chance beating Wyoming then CSU mainly because of these factors:

I see Wyoming and SUU have a game scheduled sometime in the next 3 years, I can't remember which year it was scheduled, but sometime before 2012.

SUU will play at wyoming in 2010 if my memory is correct, i only list wyomings D as a question mark because They did lose 4 starters primarily in the LB and secondary corps and Wyoming's D didnt always play as consistent then their top 40 ranking, they gave up 44 against BYU, 45 to Bowling Green, 40 to Utah, 54 to TCU. Also they could be overlooking this game being eager for their matchup vs Texas the following week.

The points listed in those games are not all due to the defense. You have to look at turnovers, field position, and how many of those scores were from KR, PR, and INT. Once you gather those stats the defense played pretty well all things considered.

Yeah, I think losing the OC was a real blow, but the offense is largely intact. Besides, I really like the new coaches as skill coaches. Now let's see if they can also step up with some strategy and leadership.
...Can't WAIT til September 5th!
