With Appy losing, and NDSU destroying a decent I-A school; who is now the #1 team in the FCS?

Hey, stop stealing my thread idea and making it better!

Regardless, I made a homer vote because until someone beats us, we're at the top!

Keep in mind, though, the fact that Michigan seems to have pulled their collective heads out of their recta. Assuming that Appy's loss is just a blip on the radar along the way to a decent season, Michigan's improved performance should help them out some.

But for purposes of THIS poll? Montana all the way.

i put NDSU at #1 and compared the toughness of the schedule. CMU is an FBS team and NDSU destroyed them though and through. Yesterday's game really showed the potential of the BISON

In this case, schedule hurts the Griz. They really haven't proven anything to me

I agree and have NDSU as the #1 in my AGS poll. Montana just hasn't played anyone this season that would make me think they are the #1 team.

NDSU or Northern Iowa. I picked the Panthers but either would be my pick. Montana needs to play some tougher OOC games. Sorry if all you Montana folks flame me for that but an elite team needs to play some big games.

Come on now people. Like NDSUFREAK, make a case for your #1, not a case for why Montana shouldn't be. What the hell is that about?

Not being a homer......but the last two Bison wins were impressive.

Shouldn't a responsible pollster do both?

As far as I'm concerned, Montana has done very little to deserve to be ranked #1. They are 3-0 vs. 3 teams that almost anyone in the Top 25 could beat. That can not be said about the 4 wins by NDSU or UNI.

UNI is my #1 because they have wins, convincing wins, may I add, against better opponents. I am not trying to say Drake and Mankato-Minnesota St. are better than Albany and Ft. Lewis; but they are!

NDSU beat an average at best FBS team in Central Michigan; well they KILLED em really.
UNI beat an average at best FBS team (which did just beat the Iowa Hawkeyes a week ago) pretty handily as well.

I will just take UNI because they are my pick to win the Gateway and I believe the team with the best shot in the nation to take down any 3-PEAT by the Mountaineers... NDSU close at 2nd... Montana at 3.. UMass at 4... Appy at 5... YSU at 6... SIU at 7...

Current Sagarin ratings:

1. UNI 4-0
2. SIU 4-0
3. Umass 4-0
4. App State 3-1
5. Youngstown 3-1
6. Delaware 4-0
7. EWU 3-0
8. NDSU 3-0
9. Montana 3-0
10. McNeese 3-0

Sagarin is making more sense every week.

NDSU thoroughly dominated their FBS opponent, outgained them by 100+ yards, controlled the ball for 36+ minutes and won by 30.

UNI wasn't all that impressive in their victory, they were outgained by 70 yards, barely won the time of possesion and had the benefit of 4 Iowa St turnovers while winning by 11.

I'm not trying to take anything away from UNI but if that victory was impressive enough to jump them over NDSU in the polls, then NDSU's victory certainly has to be impressive enough to warrant jumping UNI in the polls this week.

Does it really matter who is where, I just posted this poll to get some conversation going on this site.

Bottom Line:
UNI can win a National Title this year,
NDSU can NOT.

The MAC is NOT a legitimate FBS conference. I'd put them on a par with the old Big West football conference, which for their last few years of existence had a Sagarin lower than that of the Big Sky. I don't put much stock into a drubbing of a MAC team. I'd say that Appy's so-called "upset" is more impressive because it came at the expense of a B(C)$ school. Appy should stay in the Top 5, and Montana becomes #1 because they did what they were supposed to do.
