Could Halloween Day decide the Big Sky Champ
Isnt it fitting that a game as crazy as this be played on the craziest day of the Year?
WEBER STATEvs MONTANA
Will the Big Sky be decided on this day? Yes? No? any thoughts? I know this is reaching pretty far into the season, and we dont know if either team will turn out as expected, but what the heck just for kicks.

In response to Mr. T's post on another thread, I think the game at Montana will be one of the "defining" games of the 2009 season.Wildcat Ryan wrote:Isnt it fitting that a game as crazy as this be played on the craziest day of the Year?

I hope WSU can make it 6-0 to get there, that alone will be tough regardless of rankings/awards/nominations....

You Weber fans are constantly living in a fairy tale, with:
+fairy tale conf sweeps
+a fairy tale sold out Stewart Stadium
+fairy tale Halloween Conf championship games
+fairy tale Weber st. NC trophys
I mean COME ON......weber state is getting better and the won a "slice" of the title. But lets not act like they have Montana-like consistancy. Dont forget who killed your dream in the last game of the reg season, & the other team that killed your NC dream.

Must win at PSU, at EWU, MSU
1. Weber/EWU---Eagles seem to have the Wildcats number the last couple years, and Cheney is a tough place to play.
2. Weber/PSU---Wildcats won the last time they played in Portland, but the Vikings are still not an easy win for opponents in Portland.
3. Weber/MSU---Wildcats have a great team and any game in Ogden will be tough for opponents, but the Bobcats are not going to be a pushover this year either.
Realistically, 6-0 for the Wildcats is a stretch. I would say they would be probably 5-1. Also, keep in mind that both the Wildcats and the Grizzlies have a trap game before the big game (10-24, Montana at Sacramento State; Weber at Northern Colorado). If both are undefeated on 10-24, there will be tremendous pressure for both to win on the road against the two upstarts of the conference to make this game a big game. If both are undefeated, recent conference history suggests one will lose their trap game. Remains to be seen.

Weber will have as much chance to win in Missoula on Halloween as they had last year in December. That was none.

Man, Kem. You're a lightning rod wherever you post.
This game will more than likely be the game of the season in the Big Sky, but winning in Missoula will be very difficult for the Wildcats. The Cats have not won in Missoula since 1987, that's a pretty long time.

Always difficult to win in Wa-Griz, but not impossible.kemajic wrote:Weber will have as much chance to win in Missoula on Halloween as they had last year in December. That was none.

Even though Weber's 45-28 margin over Montana in Ogden was greater than the 24-13 Griz win in Missoula, both games were closer than the scores indicated, and neither game was a beat-down.

Re: Could Halloween Day decide the Big Sky Champ
Right now, on paper, it looks like this game will be the biggest game in the Sky this upcoming season. However, I believe, that the Sky, from top to bottom, has improved, and that every game will be a battle for every team. There are some really talented teams in the Sky, and each of them have a chance to pull an upset. If it wasn't for the the post-season ban, I think Eastern would be very hard to beat, but I think that ban is going to cause some problems for the Eagles. Regardless, they have a great team that could ruin some teams seasons, they can't play for a championship, but they definitely can play for pride and respect. Also, MSU is coming back with arguably one of the best defenses in the league, and they could turn some heads, but they really need to work out some offensive problems to become a contender, first...QB. SAC, UNC, PSU, and NAU are all dangerous and each could be the dark horse in the league. Every week, every game is important. You win and earn respect on the field.
Kemajic...You say its impossible for Weber to win in Missula, yet they already have won there before, even though the last time was 22 years ago, wouldn't that pretty much mean that there is a possibililty? Also, games are played in the present, not in history. Who cares what has happened before...thats HISTORY. Its great to look at the record books, and thump your chest with pride. But; nonetheless, those things already happened and what has previously happened, sure as hell doesn't and wont dictate what will necessarily happen in the future. I'm sure that Weber will have as much chance of winning at a start of the game as Montana... 50/50.
I will say thought... WA-GRIZ is one hell of a great atmosphere for football.

Re: Could Halloween Day decide the Big Sky Champ
If I remember correctly, UM was sacked like 47 times in game one. They elected to go to a ball-control offense in the playoff game (19 attempts vs 32 in the reg season game), putting the outcome in Chase Reynolds' hands. THAT alone is going to keep the score closer, given the amount of clock our drives ate.native wrote:Always difficult to win in Wa-Griz, but not impossible.kemajic wrote:Weber will have as much chance to win in Missoula on Halloween as they had last year in December. If the game was going to be played the first game of the season, I'd give the edge to Montana. But really, we are talking about a lot of football between 9-5 and 10-31. I, for one, will withhold judgement on this until that week. Too much football between then and now.AZGrizFan wrote:ilovebaker wrote:Right now, on paper, it looks like this game will be the biggest game in the Sky this upcoming season. this pic of the kiesel store is in the background of the 7-11 scene. dumb n dumber is very important to ogdonians...i guess since we have so many dummies!
