Is there black in those logos? Nope.
Blackouts should be for teams whose primary color is black.

My college is Maroon and Notre Dame Gold and we wore black pants and jerseys for one game and raffled them off afterwards. Made several thousand dollars off of 'em. Griz did the same with the Copper 'N Gold last season. They make money.

That's what UNI is doing with them, and I know they will make tens of thousands, if not more, dollars for the UNI athletic department...which we need badly.

Nothing like a blackout - they work much of the time.

Great idea, and I think they'll look terrific!
My favorite Griz uni combo is the all maroon, so I'm a fan of jerseys, and pants being the same color!!

It will be cool, just like what Utah did against TCU last year, everyone had black on, and the Stadium was really rocking, I talked to some friends who are Ute fans, and they said the only thing about the blackout they didnt like, was that the uniforms made them look like San Diego State.
Rocking Rice Eccles
UTAH UTES
San Diego State Aztecs
Who Cares if there isnt any Black in the logos, Is there any black in this logo?
No, but Weber has Black on their Uniforms

I keep on saying it, but some football uniform manufacturer needs to copyright the name "Mean Machine" and put it as a visible, but discreet logo on all black uniforms they make.
Preferably for the one and done sets that schools sell for money.

A blackout might look cool, but it still makes zero sense. Black pants are fine, but for schools who don't have black as a school color, it's just jumping on the bandwagon of Louisville, Georgia, Utah, etc.
Next thing you know, James Madison and Furman will be doing blackouts.

the athletic department wont care about any of that once the checks role in from tshirt sales and auction. black is an unofficial color for the football team that the school recognizes

Hope all you naysayers throw the same objections when a school attempts a "white out" even though white isn't listed as a primary school color.
in any case, blackouts look much better than whiteouts

There has been black on the UNI jerseys, helmets, and pants for many years now. Its not as if we pulled black out of nowhere for this promotion. We have been using black in football for a long time now.

So since you have me convinced that black is a quasi official color and has been used somewhere on the UNI uniforms... maybe on the pant leg, perhaps some black lining around the "UNI" lettering on the helmet... I don't know... but anyway, are they going to move the game time back? There's no point in doing a black out if it's not going to be a night game... the effect of having all the fans and team dressed in black is kinda taken away if the sun is out. Game time is currently at 4... I'm guessing the sun won't go down until about 730, game will be over by then.

Game time won't be moved. If anything it would be moved up in time, to 3. Farley doesn't like the 4 oclock kick, he would rather have the three and fights for it every year. But I do agree with you, however, we are in a dome, it is always day time.

Disregard my previous statement... I didn't take the dome into account... maybe coach could hit the dimmer switch on the light?

I think most folks associate UNI with the more traditional lavendar uniforms, but maybe accesorizing with a black purse, or even a strapless handbag, would work.

Hopefully JMU, another team in purple, doesn't do this stunt in the future. Would be retarded. There is zero black in JMU's unis, and this would piss a lot of the fans off.

Right, because JMU has never used black on the jerseys. UNI has had black, in some form, for years.
