The Penguins have the best overall defense in the Gateway and the Salukis have the best overall offense in the Gateway. This should be an exciting game in Carbondale on Saturday afternoon. This will be the first real FCS test of the season for the Salukis. The Penguins battled an up and coming South Dakota St. team in Week 2 of the season.

I know it is a homer pick, but I have to go with my Dawgs. The Salukis have improved from a year ago and have homefield advantage. The offense is more balanced and the defense is more opportunistic. SIU has forced more turnovers at this point of the season than they did all of last year. QB Nick Hill's passing numbers are good (78-110, 1060 yards and 13 TDs, 0 INTs) and might be better if he had not spent so much time watching the reserves mop up at the end of games. The only game in which he played in the fourth quarter was the NIU game. He was sitting by halftime at Indiana State. Youngstown may have the leading D in the league, but they have not faced the likes of the SIU offense which leads the nation in scoring (53.4 ppg).

Missouri State came to Youngstown averaging 42 ppg.. They got 21.

If this game is anything like last year, it will be decided on the last series, hell the last play even. Get some SIU fans on here uncle, I'm going to try to get some YSU fans as well!

This board is too slow for most of our fans. During the season most Saluki fans hang out on Salukitalk. It is a highly active board.

Arkansas-Pine Bluff was only giving up 10 points a game until they played us. We hung 58 on them.

I got the Salukis.

This should be a great game - I'd have to flip a coin to make a pick at this point. Looking forward to how it plays out.

I just don't say that beating soutn dakota st. is that much of a resmue builder but I still think it will be a great game but I still have Southern Illinois by 7 and that 7 will be in the 4th.

I take SIU by 3 because they are at home.

It's Homecoming in Carbondale. It's usually the biggest crowd of the year. If the Dawgs win, the Strip could get a bit rowdy.

I can see it going either way, but gave the edge to SIU at home- should be a helluva game.

Thanks Skinny........I just had it with AGS when they banned the Cap'n for nothing that I saw as wrong.

It's a damn shame, but if AGS wants the Cap'n gone they will have to deal with the consequences.

It's supposed to be 89 degrees in Carbondale today. Not very good weather for Penguins.
