I'm telling you, the Bucs will suprise alot of folks this season. Mills thinks this could well be the best team he has had since he came here. Pay attention as the season progresses folks, we will be better than anyone is giving credit for.

Mills has been saying that for a few years now. We can always count on the Bucs to give up during each and every game. Just my :twocents:

Bucs give up during each and every game? We did pretty good in the last game of last season, huh? Remember that one? Maybe you do. Maybe you don't since there was only a handful of CCU fans left in the stadium by the time we got done shutting you out.

Coach Mills hasn't just been "saying" it. He backs it up year after year. He routinely outcoaches the coach on the opposite side of the field (including your "coach", who is more worried about the next commercial shoot than coaching up his team). Coach Mills' teams also routinely outperform the pre-season predictions.

This year will be no different. We will surprise people. We will finish higher than 5th.

Looks good except for coastal carolina being third and VMI so low, Sparky Woods is turning the Keydets around and with their military discipline and triple option offense im picking them a surprise 3rd or second place finish. :thumb:

I'm at most of the CSU games and have been at many more since 2002. AS for the handful of CCU students, you must forget or fail to recognize that EVERY time CCU visits, we fill up the visitor and parts of the home stands and stay for the end. I know becuase I've been there for every CCU/CSU match since the first.

But, this is about the Bucs. My best friend worked alongside Mills and now works alongside the strength and conditioning coach. He will tell you that the Bucs give up when it seems lost and on the sidelines, they lose faith quickly. I've been on the sidelines of many games with the team and have heard the team get down on themseleves real fuckin quick. If you put that negative energy out there, you'll have all the negative energy directed toward you. If you have other insight, let me know.

Mills always talks about how great his team are, but until he is consistent with his team, he won't bring in the better players.

As for Bennett, he needs to focus on the entire game. I think we need a new coach, one that isn't more concered about offense than defense. That's my :twocents:

I hope that comes true this year.

I still get a kick out of Stony Brook being in the Big South. It's such a natural fit.

No kidding, they need to move into the NEC, and then have NCCU move into the Big South since they probaby are going to end up there anyways.

Problem is, Stony Brook offers 63 schollies. NEC only allows 40. That was the whole reason they left the NEC in the first place.

Well, look on the bright side. At least it's not as bad as the St. Louis Billikens competing in the Atlantic 10 :?

It is well known that if you can punch the Bucs early that they will fold. Just about every time we beat you guys the game was over early and your team started getting stupid penalties.

Now now, they beat us, 2 times? And one of those times was because of your mistake and they ended up being CO CHAMPIONS as defined by the conference. I'm not sure the day will come with CSU is the Big South Champion...

Only thing that counts is the final score bubba. Mistakes cost you points and points win games anyway you look at it.

When the game was over we had more points on the scoreboard than you. Any objective fan's first question in a tie situation would be...What was the head-to-head result?

The head-to-head result was...we won. That's all that matters. That's in the past. We have a conference championship for it. That and $.44 will buy me a stamp.

This is a new year. We are all tied right now. We'll see what happens.

What i dont understand is how you all seem to be overlooking VMI? They have 10 starters back on offense (including Tim Maypray) and 9 on defense. I seriously think they will turn a few heads this year now that sparky woods is at the helm, they did well last year on sheer determination so with a little talent i think they could surprise everyone and win the Big South. And Bodoyle just remember that when VMI came out and hit you guys hard and early in the 2nd half in 08 you guys folded pretty well :thumb: The Big South is one of the conferences this year that has multiple teams that can end up anywhere in the standings so it makes predictions hard. But this is what i think could happen in the Big South this year:

1-Gardner Webb: 10 starters on both offense and a defense that led the conference in rush defense, that gives it the tools it needs to take the runni'n bulldogs to the top of the Big South in 09

1-VMI: Triple Option + Military Discipline + 10 starters on offense = bad news for opposing defenses, look for the Keydets to light up the scoreboard and stuff people on D with 9 starters returning.

1-Costal Carolina: Returning the number 1 Pass defense in the Big South with 10 starters (on offense and defense) the Chanticleers could ride them to the Big South Championship along with a very accurate QB.

4-Stony Brook: The Sea Wolves return only 15 starters this year from a team that finished tied for second in 08, they do return the best running backs in the Big South.

4-Liberty: I put the flames here for these reasons: only 4 starters on defense and the loss of their star QB, NFL drafted RB and their top WR. This will be a rebuilding year for the Flames.

4-Charelston Southern: Like Liberty as to replace 7 starters on defense and once again has a new QB at the helm, they do have gerald stevensen but i think those losses make this a rebuilding year for the Buccaneers.

7-Presbyterian: In 08 their shocking victory (and mascot, blue hose?) over Liberty showed that they could compete in the Big South. Now an official conference member (however they cant compete for title until 2011) The Blue Hose i can see beating one or two teams but thats about it, but they are getting better.

As you can see i find the conference very hard to predict this year as i believe teams will beat one then lose to another, but i think its pretty accurate. Also does anyone know if North Carolina Central and Savannah State are planning on joining the Big South? Both schools would seem like ideal fits for the conference geographically wise (Besides Stony Brook) and possibly Fordham since they want out of the Patriot Leauge?

Not trying to state the obvious, but I just never bought into the "we beat ourselves" BS.

Glad you took my comments from your "Big South Conference Outlook" to heart :thumb:

How can they put Liberty at the top spot when probably 80-90% of their offensive output from last year is gone? I feel the same about JMU, it's a questionable year for both teams. Will a new QB step up? Who will be the leader of the offense? A team with these questions should not be picked preseason #1.

I agree, and arent you guys okay at QB with Dudzik at the helm? He had a hell of a game against Montana i thought while watching it :thumb:

Is Dudzik going to be the starting QB? We really only have one half of actual game info on him (even though it was a heck of a half and during one of the biggest games of the year)... I think we are set with Thorpe or Dudzik, but you never know. Still, I wouldn't give us a preseason prediction to win.
