If you could start over, and you had to choose another mascot/icon for your school, what would it be?

Not possible.. Monte is one of the only 1-AA mascots to make it into the Capital One dealie, and he's won it twice, going for a third.. can't do it.

Though, when I was at Wyoming (before they got their current Pistol Pete mascot) they debuted some ugly-ass coyote looking thing.. student section beat it up and sent it home packing.

No change here either.

Heck yeah. I wanna go back to the old Herky. The current stylized bee whomps.

As for my other school, PowerCat REALLY sucks. I want REALLY bad to go back to the old Tommy Tiger at UOP.

I think they are reworking the Klawz costume - it needs some help. I say scrap the costume and lets get a real bear. If we let a D2 run us out of the stadium again we can then let the bear loose in the locker room after the game.

I like our Ram mascot but several schools have it. I would prefer that we go back to our old unique mascot that honors a WWII squadron The Green Devils

You know, I've been pondering this idea for a while now. I was thinking UM needed to do the same thing. I think the crowd, players, etc, would flip. I think they need to do it for the next Cat/Griz. And getting a bear really wouldn't be too hard.. there's a guy that has a ranch in Colorado that trains grizzly bears for movies. His bears have starred in Bear, Dr. Doolittle, Without a Paddle, etc. Bart the Bear, Little Bart, Tank, and Honeybump are his bear's names.. I think it'd be great to have Monte lead one out.. but I can definitely see the liability involved with this.. but if they're used to being in front of a chaotic movie set, they might be able to handle a stadium.

That would be sweet. If they can do it with a buffalo in boulder why not a bear? Surely someone in Montana has a gun to take down the bear if he goes nuts right? Heck, you could probably double ticket prices for that type of action!;)

I'd scrap the generic mountaineer Yosef for Daniel Boone.

We never really had a mascot, though some PC idiots conned the Colgate administration a couple of years ago into thinking we were pissing off the indians by using "Red Raiders". In reality, a reporter called us "Red Raiders" after seeing our uniforms, which were pretty spiffy for the time (deep Maroon with white painted helmet).

I know the color doesn't work to well, but did you ever think about having Col Mustard as a mascot?

Oh crap! No CCU posters have responded?! Well, I would never consider the Chanticleer in the first place. Given the architecture on campus, our proximity to the ocean I would choose maybe a greek fighter like a Spartan or Achean. If going the animal route, I'd chose something that existed and is in Horry County. Black Bears still roam onto campus. Perhaps bobcats or wolves. Or foxes. Something that shows it's a fierce,determined animal.
