I followed up with giving a more detailed analysis on one offensive and defensive player from the list of Texas State players I provided you earlier in this topic.

Your feedback is encouraged!

Offense

QB--Bradley George--Senior

He possesses ideal size and measurables scouts and teams for the next level craves, and his frame can easily take on additional weight gain (without effecting his play on the field)

He is a player that stands tall in the pocket, shows good poise, leadership, and command of the offense when behind center

He displays good arm strength & velocity on throws, along with the touch needed on a wide variety of his throws (forcing defenses to defend the entire field)

He shows a live arm and quick release with the flick of the wrist, ala former NFL quarterback "Dan Marino" (his quick release limits defenders sacks & playmaking opportunities)

He shows good instincts and anticipation consistently throwing before his receivers make their final breaks (which is rare and shows his confidence in his passing skills), and displays excellent placement on throws (which benefits his receivers with yards after catch - YAC)

The area of his game that seems to go vastly underrated is his movement in and out of the pocket, and his ability to make things happen in the passing game outside the pocket, along with showing the ability to extend plays in the passing game with his feet

Without a doubt he shows the overall combination of skills to make it at the NFL level, if given the opportunity to compete in someones training camp.

Defense

DE/OLB--Travis Houston--Senior

Though he is listed at the defensive end position at the collegiate level, his best long term position beyond college should be at outside linebacker

His skills sets and play on the field dictate the position change to outside linebacker (which will takes his game to another level)

He possesses the size and measurables for the outside linebacker position teams salivate for (and with his defensive end history he delivers versatility as well)

For a player of his size he shows good quickness, lateral movement, and the closing speed needed to track down ball carriers all along the field

He displays the ability to get thin coming off the edge on passing downs and creating potential havoc on opposing offenses

He shows a motor that is non-stop from snap to whistle (meaning opposing blockers will have a long day dealing with him)

He shows good sideline to sideline ability tracking down and making a path to the ball in a seek and destroy mentality

He also plays the game with a lot of enthusiasm and intensity on the field

There is no question this player not only can make a successful transition to his new position of outside linebacker, but play it at a high level at the NFL ranks!

Good to have you here Mr. TheScout. Thanks for the analysis. Will you be doing any other teams?

TheScout works weird hours, besides coaching and, well.... scouting.

I believe he would need game film for players from other FCS schools to be able to give an evaluation. I put this out on the board.... somewhere. Got no replies or response. Maybe after the season starts some of you would be willing to help out but I bet he'd take any from last year for players you think are worth the look.

KB, correct me if I'm wrong here.

Ah, that's cool I didn't realize he was a TXST fan or only had real access to them so I wanted to see what the deal was. The only film I would be able to direct to would be the highlights that the Griz post every week.

KB has access to TXST film and highlights via me. He is not a particular fan of any FCS school. Highlights can work for starters.

This season I'll be recording all the home games plus our TCU game. I hope to get him a look at some of the other SLC schools/players with those 'films'. Also why I was looking for a list of 'players to watch' from each school. Not that I'll be able to record them but at least he/we will have a base to start with.

CatMom,

Ha what up lady! Yes I very much would appreciate game film from last year or the upcoming CFB season of FCS or FBS teams. Which would allow me to evaluate a larger amount of players across the country.

You have to check out my new site at (1stDownScouting)< http://1stdownscouting.com/ > If you like to know what players at the CFB level will one day be playing at the NFL level then my site is the one for you. The website will not be close to where I want it till around the first CFB game of the year in early September.

Within my player profiles I provide Strength's & Weaknesses, bios, stats, video, and other analysis on each player. During the draft, if eligible I provide others consensus of where that player should go, and my personal value board rating of where I feel they should be drafted.

You will be able to look up individual player profiles you may be interested in, player profiles of whatever team you may follow, or by the game you may be watching that day and like to know what players to watch for that TheScout has his eye on!

The site was strictly created to provide needed exposure to collegiate players whose play on the field (regardless of their level) warrants additional exposure through my player profiles and features on my site. Here is the slogan I stand by here at 1stDownScouting: WHERE YOUR PLAY ON THE FIELD NOT THE JERSEY YOU WEAR IS MOST IMPORTANT!

Here is a good example of an overlooked prospect ILB Joe Mays of North Dakota State who was chosen in the 6th round by the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2008 NFL Draft. Who was overlooked by most due to a lack of exposure, and lacking so called ideal measurables (not desired size & speed). But the closest way of predicting a prospects success at the next level is through constant game analysis on him. As soon as I seen Joe I know he was a NFL thumper at ILB!

Below is an example of what the consensus NFL scouts & teams felt about Joe Mays (which was mainly a career special teamer/ backup), and what I felt about him as a soon to be starter in his early NFL career.

I appreciate any feedback and suggestions concerning both game film that may be available that can be sent my way, and when it comes to ideas or features for my upcoming site you may like?

P.S. Ursus A. Horribilis - Question -- Will you be doing any other teams? Normally I have similar write ups on my sites only. But I can always place maybe a link to my site of a player of the week I want to feature. Or if there is a player the majority want a write up on if I don't already have one written of (provided I have game film on).

Really like to have my site as an interactive back and forth dialogue amongst those that frequent the site and whom are in here. Feel free to e-mail me your questions!

One thing I am looking to do is link myself to Twitter where you can access on my site. Then I could give instant feedback to others throughout the week on any player evaluation questions, or on gameday players on both teams you should focus in on with NFL written all over them, weekly interactive features on my site (such as my live chat) that you may want to know about, with fantasy football right around the corner. Ask me the tough questions you may have for your draftboard or player transition moves throughout the week, and of course as the 2010 NFL Draft nears the number draft questions that you may want answered. Example: What sleepers are in the draft that know one else knows about. Because that is a specialty of mine! PLEASE GIVE ME FEEDBACK ON THE TWITTER SITUATION. REALLY LIKE TO KNOW IF YOU GUYS WOULD LIKE?

But look for hundreds and eventually thousands of player profiles on my site of players I feel have the skills to play at the NFL level. It will be a very user friendly site.

And again I can not thank CatMom enough for the work she already has done on the site, and in the near future!
