Thanks for the kind words guys. its hard to get good football talk at CAAzone, and its down, and there's not a lot of traffic at monarch nation so I think we've come here to learn about FCS football. I personally have never been to a college football game and have only watched it a few times on TV. So it will take a while for me to grasp the differences between this and NFL-type football (rules, clocks, OT, schemes, etc.). And this community appears top notch and there seems to be a lot less urine throwing then at the CAAzone.

You are already the envy of every former FCS player and fan who has ever played or watched a game with 1,000 people in the stands.

Whatever is in the water in Hampton Roads needs to be bottled and shipped up the Hudson River to Albany.

Congrats for sure and welcome to what will become something akin to a crack addiction - the FCS message board.

2 weeks until our opener. Expectations are reasonable, and we can use the two years to get ready for the meat grinder CAA in 2011.

We are quite proud of the stadium. Home to many "oyster bowls" in the past, including Staubach from Navy.

With all the season tickets sold, we are looking for a terrific atmosphere.

It is weak. However with only frosh and sophomores (with a few JUCOs/xfers), it is like a JV squad playing against everyone's varisty..........

Big physical difference between most college freshman and college juniors.....

Yea I know theres a big differnce between an established program that sucks and ODU. But jeezis Christ! A Goddamn D-III team could go 11-0 with that schedule!

As for our schedule, yes it's weak by FCS standards (two div II games to open for example), but I doubt- actually i hope that ODU doesn't go 11-0. This team must learn to pick itself up after a defeat and show up the following weak in order to ultimately succeed. It must learn to overcome adversity on the road (plus the finale at VMI is a good test for a first-year team). Finally, 11-0 would start unreasonable expectations for the future. We add William and Mary in 2010 and then the full CAA south slate in 2011, I'd hate for first year success to pave the way for followup disapproval when reality hits in 2011.

But Chowan on Sept 5 is going to be a blast!

Wow, thanks for the welcomes! This definitely seems to be great online community that actually tries to give good analysis/info. Hopin' to learn a lot here and lookin' forward to seein' some of you guys at Foreman...er...I mean SB Ballard.
