Who's Your Quarterback?

Seems alot of teams are having QB wars in camp. Is your team or do you have one set, returning and no competition going on?
I know ASU doesn't (unless AE's foot doesn't heal right away) We don't have a problem - set with Brad George. SFA has Moses - no issue. MSU - Ferroux.
If there is a battle for the position? What are your thoughts or what have you heard about the frontrunner? Or does your team platoon, making this moot?

Micheal Herrick should be good to go this year - Junior, transferred from Ole Miss, started a few games last year.

14 Lee Chapple QB 6-1 200 So.
12 Kyle Collins QB 6-3 216 Jr.
16 Russell DeMasi QB 6-0 171 RFr.
Jordan Haggerty QB 6-2 170 So.
18 Brent Osborn QB 6-4 200 Fr.
Christopher Pye QB 6-1 205 So.
The roster looks like this, with Chapple stated as the starter. CH said many times that this year he was going to get to coach the gameplan that he feels comfortable coaching and the one that Chapple delivered against Furple last season.

I think DeAndre is safe as AE's backup but apparently Travaris Cadet has been having one heck of a camp. Sounds like he's a gamer and could possibly be in a battle for second somewhere down the line.

Coaches already stated there is no battle. George is our QB. Tim Hawkins will be backup, should the need arise. Third would be Alvaro Garcia (I believe).
We have a slew of QB's on the roster and I imagine most will redshirt, though I think one or two may be converted to another position.
#9 Brad George Sr 3L
#11 Tim Hawkins Fr RS
#5 Alvaro Garcia SO 1L WR/QB
The Rest in numerical order
#14 Michael Enriquez Fr RS
#15 Eric Soza Fr HS
#16 Bryan Hill SO Transfer
#18 Josh Christian FR HS
so 7 - looks good for the next few years

University of Montana
Corey Selle - in state recruit who has been there for three years will probably be the starter at least early on
Justin Roper - Starter from Oregon that transferred and is still getting used to the players and play calls may
push for a starting spot later on in the season.
Montana State
Same battle as last year Iddins vs Kempt (another Oregon qb transfer). Last year both qb's were too close to call and the coaches went with the big reward guy in Kempt and he started 8 games. He had an up and down season and make a big play and then turn the ball over a little later. He never seemed comfortable in the pocket but was coming along slowly until he got injured
Iddins started one game and got injured but during that game displayed pocket presence and seemed more comfortable going through his reads. He did turn the ball over once and doesn't throw downfield as often.
Iddins came back from his injury during the winter and spent the spring entrenching himself as the #1 qb and is a "steady" performer. Kempt got healthy and is pushing hard for the starting spot but is still a big reward big risk type of player (throws more interceptions).
Both qb's need to work on getting the ball downfield more versus just the short passing attack.
If both go down (which happened last year) they will never get their jobs back, because we have a talented freshman qb that is a composite of both of those qbs...Most athletic qb, with a strong/quick release that makes plays downfield and doesn't turn the ball over. He just doesn't know the system well enough right now.

that is the questions Furman fans are most curious about.
Sorrells still listed as starter. Word from some players is there is no way Forcier doesn't see a lot of playing time. Their statements is that he is that good. Some people who have reported on the summer training actually say Worley has looked the best in practice.
Should be interesting.

There's no QB battle at Southern, we have the same starting QB (Bryant Lee) for the last 3 seasons. Next year will be interesting though.

Pat Devlin - transfer from Penn State and one of the "elite" quarterbacks out of the HS class of 2005. Pat is pictured here (third from the left) with fellow "elite" QBs from that class including Josh Freeman, Tim Tebow, Jevan Snead and Matthew Stafford (pretty good company

).
All indications from both spring and summer practices is that Pat is the real deal and promises to play up to the tremendous amount of hype he has received.
Blue Hen fans all hope that he plays like an "elite" QB when the season starts. We can feel confident, at least, that he can't be worse than what we had last year.

Chris Whitney will be our starter. Antwon Young will be our back-up, and with him having the ability to be the starter at probably 95% of FCS schools, we have QB covered.

Cade Cooper will be the QB for SUU this year in 09 having won the starting job in the Red vs White Spring game in a spirited battle with Kyle Bowen. This guy is the real deal, an accurate arm, a good runner and is one of the reasons for the buzz surrounding SUU this season. Some info on him:
-Spent the 2007 season as a redshirt at Oregon after suffering an injury at BYU in the spring of 2007. Played two seasons at Snow College, where he led the team to a 12-1 record his sophomore season to earn National Junior College Player of the Year honors. Threw for over 3,100 yards his sophomore season at Snow, when he tossed 33 TD passes and ran for another four scores.
-Graduate of Utah’s Timpview High School, also attended Lehi HS for two years. Earned a combined four football, three basketball and three baseball letters, was named all-state and all-region his senior season at Timpview High School when he passed for over 2,500 yards and 29 touchdowns.

Don't you need like 21 other guys to make this work too?

Isn't this thread that YOU started asking specifically to be about the quarterback?
Pay attention, mom.
FWIW, if our o-line can hold up, I think the Hens have a good shot at fielding a very competitive team. A CAA schedule is very tough, and I'm not sure how we will fare, but I would like our chances against your Cats.

Toscano Named Starting QB (Charleston Southern University)
“He has a really good knowledge of our offense, probably second only to Collin Drafts in his senior year,” said (Head Coach, Jay) Mills. “If that knowledge translates onto the field during game day, which I trust that it will, A.J. will perform very well. He has a mastery of not only his position, but everyone else on the field.”
I like this move. If Coach Mills is as high on him as the quote above shows, that is all I need to know. Collin Drafts was very successful in our offense, especially in his senior year. If A.J. is on the same path, there are bright days ahead this year, and look out for next year.

That makes two of us.

A Cats / Hens game would mean we both had pretty damn good seasons, huh?

Pat Grace is our starter. Payton Award Watchlist All MVC selection
Backup is Zach Davis, who went 3-0 as a starters last year in injury time...all 3 on the road. Looked dang good and some fans would rather want him to start over grace.

For SIU, it should be returning starter Chris Dieker. He passed for over 2000 yards and 16 TDs last year. Army transfer Paul McIntosh is his probable backup. Other possibilities include
Bobby Brenneisen and freshman
Taylor Beasley.
