something we really haven't had to deal with the last 2 years: Injuries
Lost another OL for the season (broken leg) yesterday.

Does that explain the whole team going downhill??

If UNI lost 3 starting OL, had graduated practically the entire Defensive Line, and lost Sanders for 4-5 games....what do you think would happen?
FWIW, I STILL believe this team will be there in the end. We ain't done, the Germans haven't bombed Pearl harbor yet!

The FCS gods have commanded:
Thou Shalt not have 3-time defending champions.
And have enforced that decree via smiting with injury.
kidding, kidding. (though there has never been a 3-peat in FCS/I-AA)

Define falling off?
Losing to Wofford and GSU are not exactly earth shattering losses. With some luck, they can still win the SoCon and have a favorable schedule down the stretch. If 2 losses makes people ask "What's up with App?" then I will certainly take that kind of reputation. I am not completely pleased with the team right now, but not disappointed either. We have the biggest upset in college football history on our resume, and 2 losses to 2 very talented teams. 9-2 here we come. We will have a chance to defend our title, and that is the goal IMO

Appy is going to be hurting come playoff time though.. they might win the SoCon, but some road playoff games are likely in store.

I think igo is just saying that App St looks very vulnerable. I personally thought they would do just fine with Elder.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Though given GSU last season, the loss does concern me some. But 2 lossess doesn't mean the Mountaineers will continue to fall and not go for a 3-peat.

I think it's been obvious that defense is our achilles heel this season. I said at the beginning of the season that I'd take 9-2 and be happy. Here's hoping we win out!

It was sweet to beat Appy this past week. But you'd be a fool if you thought they were done. We beat Appy because our team was up for the game and our coach surprised them by putting Billy Lowe in the game at critical times and allowing Jayson Foster to play some different positions.
Winning in Boone is no small deal. The SoCon is strong this year and if anything's been proven, it's that nothing is a sure win/loss. Who would have figured Elon to have the great season they're having?
Back to Appy, I wouldn't want to face them again in the playoffs. But I'll take the big win in Boone this year.

Oh and BTW, other than a few players names on the roster, the mascot and the school colors, there is NOTHING this year at GSU that remotely resembles last year!
THANK GOD!
