Top Sports Cities
Interesting list, though I must say, having Fargo over Missoula is a joke. Been in both, and Missoula dominates on game days.

I like that Beaumont TX beat San Marcos and they don;t even have a team (yet).
And how the fuck is Huntsville higher. That town sucks and dosen't support heir team.

Re: Top Sports Cities
i get pittsburgh at #1 i guess... but keeping in mind that only 24 months or so ago the Pens were moving out of town and nobody came to the Mellon... i dunno - this city drew 2500 for a pirates game a few weeks ago...
but the one i REALLY don't get is Miami at 8... no way in hell... their fans SUCK, flat SUCK. Heat fans don't show until the playoffs, there are no Panthers hockey fans, Marlins fans don't even know where they play (even when it isn't a rainout) and Dolphins fans have barely cared since Marino retired... then you have "the U" who, despite making it back to the top 25 can't draw dick to an epic saturday night game against Oklahoma...
i think the twin towns deserve about 15 (moving miami to about 22 to 26) and in a few years, with Target Field, TCF Bank, and a contending Vikings team again... they will be much higher.

Huntsville is the home of Huntsville Prison of TX Kill the bastards with lethal injections fame. Hell, SAMS colors are prison orange. I just figure it's the prison rodeo that is the draw, not the Kats sports.TwinTownBisonFan wrote:i've never heard that term for BearKat football but I guess it is fitting...CatMom wrote:

Green Bay below East Lansing?!?!? Really? Michigan State is better than having the Packers? I don't think so. Sorry. Crap list.

not saying i entirely agree either - but keep in mind that E. Lansing has a decent FBS football team AND the runners up in the NCAA tourney...Thumper 76 wrote:Green Bay below East Lansing?!?!? Really? Michigan State is better than having the Packers? I don't think so. Sorry. Crap list.

Re: Top Sports Cities
After you get past the top 25...it becomes so bogus it's not funny...
I've been to Ball State (Muncie) on game day...NAU has a better game day atmosphere than Muncie!!!
Amherst is much better than Muncie...Newark (Delaware) is way better than Muncie...
And even though I haven't been to Missoula, I'll wager a weeks pay it is miles ahead of Muncie...

Just curious what Missoula has beyond Griz Football.Willie wrote:Interesting list, though I must say, having Fargo over Missoula is a joke. Been in both, and Missoula dominates on game days.

Fargo-Moorhead has quite a few other options to the 3 colleges in town.
Re: Top Sports Cities
To pile on, this is a silly ranking. I can simply look in my backyard. They have Newark, DE at 192 and Dover, DE at 244. The only thing Newark has going for it is UD football. In addition to two colleges with football, Dover has a NASCAR track that draws, oh, about 400,000 people a year to Dover.
And Pittsburgh as the #1 sports town is rather silly. The Pirates are lucky to draw 10,000 on a weeknight. That town has just given up on them. The Penguins were ready to leave a couple years ago. Pittsburgh doesn't even have a basketball team. In fact, I think the Sixers may draw better than the Pirates!

Once the renovations for Bridgeforth are complete, I can see Harrisonburg moving from 156 to 153 based on this criterion alone.

How is Seattle 52nd?
Even though they lost the Sonics, they still have the Sounders (soccer), Seahawks (home of footballs 12th man), Mariners (baseball), Storm (womens pro basketball), U of Washington with their crappy stadium and MOST importantly, The Seattle Mist (womens lingerie football):
