The 2024-25 Big Sky Basketball Season

11/4 Games - the start of the season seems to get earlier every single year :?

  • Men

    EWU 56-76 CU; The Buffs go 8/14 from three in the second half after going 1/9 in the first
    PSU 92-100 WSU; The Cougs get six guys in double figures including three former EWU players (Coward, Price, Watts)
    nwest 60-94 IDA; 95 of this game's 154 points came from the two benches
    nwic 35-118 WEB; Wildcats win points-in-the-paint 52-8
    parkaz 49-100 NAU; Lumberjacks win points-in-the-paint 52-6
    hilo 61-92 UMT; Western Washington transfer Kai Johnson scores 24 points in his Griz debut
    cocoll 55-75 UNC; Bears win fast-break points 23-5



    Women

    EWU 82-83 WSU (OT); The Eags shot 63% from the arc, but they only shot 42% from the line and lost points-off-turnovers 19-8
    wjess 51-78 SAC; Hornets win assists 18-5
    azchr 52-91 ISU; The Bengals went 9/16 in each of the first three quarters (they went 7/13 in the fourth)
    parkaz 41-94 WEB; The Buccaneers (Buccaneers? In Arizona? :? ) shot 19% from the field
    NAU 80-78 UNM; The Lumberjacks overcome a double-digit deficit by shooting 69% in the fourth quarter and getting a buzzer-beater from Sophie Glancey
    chad 28-92 MSU; Chadron State had 48 turnovers :shock: :suspicious:
    concne 64-66 UNC; The Bears dodge a bullet despite going 3/12 in the fourth quarter

    ISU 48-55 ASU; The Bengals shot 25% and somehow made this close



    Women

    UMT 69-82 GONZ; The Lady Griz shot 50% from the field, but they only shot 29% from the arc and lost the boards by 16

    UCD 79-75 IDA; The Aggies outscored Idaho 20-7 over the final 7:40
    ISU 69-75 USC; Former NoCo Bear Saint Thomas gets 10 points, 9 assists, and 7 rebounds for the Trojans
    MSU 67-79 WISC; With most every other stat being close, Wisconsin won this game by going 20/21 from the line



    Women

    UCSD 60-71 SAC; The Hornets start 2-0 for the first time in 11 years
    ISU 36-88 CAL; The Golden Bears win shooting 53%-22% (69%-21% in the second half)
    WEB 46-86 UTAH; Utes win points-off-turnovers 38-5
    NAU 71-85 UNLV; Rebels win second-chance points 27-4
    TROY 63-73 MSU; The Bobcats win assists 21-9 and turnovers 22-15
    UNC 66-81 CU; The Bears fall to 0-7 all-time versus the Buffs

    WEB 48-76 ORST; Weber shoots 33% for the game
    nels 67-115 NAU; Lumberjacks win rebounding 55-22 and points-in-the-paint 72-28
    UMT 48-79 UO; Northeastern transfer Joe Pridgen went 6/7 from the field, but the rest of the Griz went 11/43 :?
    UNC 88-90 CU (2OT); The Buffs won fouls 28-19 and free throws 31-11

    Women

    lincca 55-88 SAC; Hornets win bench points 48-10
    IDA 60-71 WSU; The Vandals won the boards by 16, but they lost turnovers 22-11
    se 60-72 UMT; The Lady Griz were only up 1 early in the fourth quarter against an NAIA playing their 3rd. game in 3 days :?

    SAC 54-64 UCSD; Hornets lose turnover 18-10
    NAU 64-90 STAN; Stanford wins fast-break points 14-0
    colchr 56-113 UNC; The Bears shot 68% and won the glass 40-18



    Women

    PSU 56-62 SFRAN; San Fran's free-throw shooting (14/26) made this more interesting than it should've been, but PSU failed to scored over the final 2:00
    USD 66-63 WEB; The Toreros won fast-break points 24-0 in a game that was decided by one possession :shock:
    CP 57-75 MSU; Portland State transfer Esmeralda Morales puts up 21 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and 6 steals for the Bobcats

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

    Women

    EWU 59-83 UW; Seattle U transfer Peyton Howard scored 20 for Eastern, but the Huskies shot 51% for the game
    SAC 67-40 CSUF; The Hornets win shooting 45%-28% and win the glass by 12
    CP 65-55 UMT; The Lady Griz lost three-point shooting 64%-9% in the first half

I appreciate it, too. It seems, this year more than last, that the only college basketball we get in Portland is the Rubber Duckies, now that they are in the Big 10. Even the Pilots and Beavers don't seem to be getting much coverage nowadays. This is one more avenue to get some good Big Sky basketball coverage. Much appreciated. Thank you.
