One player from a non-BCS school. What a shock.

Actually, this IS a shock. The shock is that they took ANY non-B(C)$ player.

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

My Salukis did have a player (Randal Falker) invited to the tryouts, but he did not make the cut.

According to http://www.drexeldragons.com, Frank Elegar of Drexel University is headed to the Pan American games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil suiting up for the US Virgin Islands National Team. Elegar and his team will open play on July 26 against Puerto Rico in Pool B action.

Elegar and the USVI national team qualified by winning the silver medal at the 2006 Centrobasket Tournament held in Panama where his team pulled a huge upset over the undefeated Puerto Rico in the semifinals. So great news and yet another CAA Player headed to the games.

W&M's Alex Smith and UNCW's Vladimir Kuljanin going to Brazi

Post by EPJr »

William and Mary junior Alex Smith and UNC Wilmington senior Vladimir Kuljanin were chosen to represent Panama and Canada in the 2007 Pan-American Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Smith averaged 7.3 points per game on 42 percent shooting from the floor to go along with 3.0 rebounds per contest in 26.3 minutes of action during the Chile Top 4 Tournament. Smith turned in his top game of the tournament in the finale, recording 10 points on 5-of-7 shooting from the floor in 36 minutes against host Chile. Smith enjoyed a breakout season for the College in 2006-07, helping W&M to its best season in nearly a decade. He appeared in all 30 contests, earning four starts and finishing with season averages of 5.5 points and 3.6 rebounds per game. He tallied double figures on five occasions during his sophomore campaign, including a career-high 16 at Delaware. Smith also led the Tribe in rebounding on eight occasions.

Kuljanin, a Toronto resident who averaged a team-leading 13.6 points and 7.1 rebounds in his third season with the Seahawks last year, raised eyebrows during Canada Basketball's first summer training camp at Durham College in Oshawa two weeks ago.
