Re: Big Sky Tournament Thread (Men)
Did not see the game last night but I am watching the rebroadcast on ESPNU this morning. I am impressed with the venue at UNC, very nice and the fan atmosphere obviously made for a good showing for the Big Sky towards the casual basketball fan. Good to see the fan support in Greeley for UNC athletics, particularly this good team. Congrats to UNC and hope they and their fans represent the conference well, regardless of where they head to in the first round.

They didn't last year (lost by 5).clenz wrote:Don't act like Montana wouldn't get waxed by a 2 or 3 seed.
As for NoCo, they'll probably end up with a 15-seed. The committee seems to like screwing over teams that are making their first appearance, though, so a 16 could definitely happen (PSU had a better resume when they got a 16-seed three years ago). I doubt they'll do well unless up against a team that's deficient in perimeter defense. The Bears played much better defense at Butler-Hancock than away from home this year, & they won't have a chance in the NCAAs if that trend continues.

As a side note for Montana, they have been offered a CIT berth according to Tinkle. They're waiting to see if they get an NIT (or CBI) berth, but they will be in the postseason.

Anybody north of the Colorado border get the lowdown on the championship game from the written press??
Just got home from a long trip here, and have a stack of Billings Gazettes here, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, and it's like no game was played, not a fuckin' word written about it at all. The game was played wasn't it?

Yep. It was awesome watching the Griz go up against the UNC 8. Very inspiring stuff.Wedgebuster wrote:Anybody north of the Colorado border get the lowdown on the championship game from the written press??

15 seed UNC faces 2 seed SDSU in Tucson. I was interested to see how UNC would do, looks like a 1 and done for the Big Sky.

On the plus side, UNC has gone to San Diego in the past and beat SDSU on their home court, three years ago I believe.SDHornet wrote:15 seed UNC faces 2 seed SDSU in Tucson. I was interested to see how UNC would do, looks like a 1 and done for the Big Sky.
UNC played Arizona in Tempe this season, so the boys are familiar with the venue, that ought to be worth a couple three pointers.
That being said, UNC has not faced a team this year as athletic as is SDSU, so your point is not moot.
