Harvard (23-5) has two shots. If Penn defeats Princeton in the famed Palestra tonight, Harvard is in. It will be champions of the Ivy League. If Princeton wins, it will share the regular-season championship with Harvard. The Ivy is the only one of the NCAA Division 1’s 32 leagues not to have a postseason tournament. The recipient of the NCAA bid would be the victor of a one-game playoff that would take place at Yale Saturday at 4 p.m.
HARVARD Number of NCAA appearances: 1
Last appearance: 1946
Deepest advance: Have not won a game
Know this about the 19-1 Harvard team that was invited to the NCAA Tournament at a time when the NIT was the place to be: three of those 19 Ws were against Chelsea Naval Hospital, one was over the Quonset Naval Air Station, and two apiece were over MIT and WPI (each a Harvard foe this very season).
It’s rather common knowledge that since the Ivy League officially came into being in 1955, seven of its eight members have won at least one championship in basketball. The one who hasn’t? Yup, the Crimson.
All the Ivy League needs to become relevant again is to diversify its OOC schedule.

So the play-in game would be at Yale, eh? That could favor Harvard in terms of getting our supporters' butts in the seats: longer drive for the Tiger fans. Also, I wonder who those jaded Yalies who bother to show up will support?bonarae wrote:http://www.boston.com/sports/colleges/m ... t:rtbutton

Also the Bison were 2-8 in games decided by 5 points or less.

Princeton steamrolled in the 2nd half and beat Penn 70-58. Playoff will go as scheduled on Saturday. Go Crimson! Beat the Tigers!

I think both teams are going to be better next year with how young the talent for both teams was this yearThundering Herd wrote:Thumper 76 wrote:SDSU loses to NDSU for the 10th straight time. Also the Bison were 2-8 in games decided by 5 points or less.I guess that's expected when 4 out of the 8 players that play significant minutes are freshmen. Hopefully there will be some improvement by next year.

Monday night the Old Dominion University Monarchs defeated their hated rival Virginia Commonwealth University 70-65 to became the first 6 time conference champion in the 26 year history of the Colonial Athletic Association. The Monarchs accomplished this milestone after just 19 years in the league. We Monarch fans are humble but proud.

Thank goodness you guys won. The Cougs bubble chances are incredibly small but I still have some (misguided) hope of making the dance. We need teams like you guys and Utah State to keep on winning the conference tourneys.TheDancinMonarch wrote:Monday night the Old Dominion University Monarchs defeated their hated rival Virginia Commonwealth University 70-65 to became the first 6 time conference champion in the 26 year history of the Colonial Athletic Association. Glad we could be of assistance but believe me when I say that beating the repugnant Rams was our number one priority. Even if it was for 11th place in the league.Shellin wrote:Thank goodness you guys won. The Cougs bubble chances are incredibly small but I still have some (misguided) hope of making the dance.
