FCS in the NIT 2012
A good representation of the FCS here, unlike in the Big Dance...
Stony Brook 8 vs. Seton Hall
UMass 5 vs. Mississippi State
UNI 7 vs. St. Joseph's
Bucknell 8 vs. Arizona
Illinois State 7 vs. Ole Miss
Dayton 2 vs. Iowa
Savannah State 8 vs. Tennessee
Valparaiso 7 vs. Miami (FL)

All the Ivy League needs to become relevant again is to diversify its OOC schedule.

Savannah State almost gets blown out, cut into the lead, makes a surprisingly competitive game out of it, before losing at Tennessee by 14.
Hope that the Tigers can hold on to their coach. He has done amazing things there considering the state of their athletic department.

He threw a big fit after we beat down UNI about how we're a football only school, and don't enough attention to women's field hockey.Cap'n Cat wrote:Grizalltheway wrote: NIT.![]()

Being a 13 seed, and getting the auto bid out of the 25th (out of 30 eligible) rated conference isn't a ton to brag about....Grizalltheway wrote:He threw a big fit after we beat down UNI about how we're a football only school, and don't enough attention to women's field hockey.Cap'n Cat wrote:

Pretty clear it was a 2 team league, and everyone's SOS was over 200 (some over 300) except UNC who had a very nice OOC with NMSU, WYO, UNI, IaSU, Marquette, and CSU....they lost all of those games.
It nice that the griz got the auto, and your fanbase is excited. However, based off of RPI you would still be 6-8th in the MVC. 3-5 OOC with 3 bad losses against a week OOC isn't impressive....it wasn't until you started playing the Big Sky teams there was any success....

Re: FCS in the NIT 2012
The FCS didn't get very far this year (though recent FCS UMASS made the Final Four). Anyways, right-bracket #3 Stanford beat left-bracket #6 Minnesota 75-51 for the NIT Championship at Madison Square Garden tonight.

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

I saw that game it was competitive near the end and I think he'll stick around. He's a former Hoya from the 80's.DSUrocks07 wrote:Savannah State almost gets blown out, cut into the lead, makes a surprisingly competitive game out of it, before losing at Tennessee by 14.
