Re: Big Sky Basketball - 2012-13
GRIZ with 14 consecutive wins, 25 straight conference wins, and 13 straight conference home wins. The consecutive conference wins, and home wins are both conference records set against UND. Also Will Cherry has moved into 3rd all time for conference steals. He will definitely get to 2nd. Has to average more than 3 steals per game to break the all time conference record. Also C Eric Hutchison's 12 points was his career high.
Final Score, GRIZ 78, UND 58. Half time score 40-21. Next up Weber State. I expect that to be one intense game, just like the 1st game.

Hornets pull one out at home against PSU. Just when teams try to separate themselves behind UM and WSU it turns right back into one big clusterfuck.

Dear God did they shit themselves or what. I actually think I wanted them to beat UNC to give us some breathing room for the 6/7th seed. Two of MSU's bigs are out: one due to injury & one due to some sort of family issue.SDHornet wrote:Dear God did they shit themselves or what. I actually think I wanted them to beat UNC to give us some breathing room for the 6/7th seed. How little did I know...mtgrizfan4life wrote:

So there may actually be a rational reason for their annual swoon this time.

Though it was looking like the Veteto absence might explain things for a while…

I hate to jinx this Mvdsjfnsoufwefkn, but what are the BSC tie breakers? It appears everyone will need to know those to some extent given the road the BSC has taken this week.

It's not listed in the current media guide, but I'd assume it's the same as it was before. Nothing has fundamentally changed on the basketball side since everyone still plays everyone twice.SDHornet wrote:I hate to jinx this Mvdsjfnsoufwefkn, but what are the BSC tie breakers? 1. Head-to-head
2. Common games starting at the top—if the common opponents are tied, they look at the records versus that tie collectively rather than breaking that tie first (that avoids the mutually dependent tiebreaker scenario).
3. RPI

Re: Big Sky Basketball - 2012-13
Thanks in part to a bunch of free tickets, a bunch of local school kids and the Jazz Bear, Weber recorded thier largest crowd of the year last night, 8,758. The largest attended conf game since our game vs Eastern last year, which was the largest since 2003 when Weber played Eastern.............go figure

Re: Big Sky Basketball - 2012-13
On Thursday night, Weber State hosts Montana in the Dee Events Center. It's an absolute must win for the Wildcats since the Griz will effectively put the conference away with a win (3 up with 5 to go plus the tiebreaker). UM is the favorite even if they lose, though, because they'll still host if they win the other 5 against the "riff-raff."
We all remember Anthony Johnson's miracle at Weber in the title game 3 years ago. However, Montana hasn't won a regular-season game in Ogden since 2004—coming ironically from the worst Griz team in the last 12 years. In that game, Wayne Tinkle served as the acting head coach in place of a suspended Pat Kennedy who had been ejected from a home loss to EWU & subsequently criticized the officials the previous Saturday.

What's more surprising? That Weber beat the Griz by 24, or that Weber's win wasn't the biggest blowout of the night?
