The second one is little-known outside of the D-II world, Philadelphia University's Herb Magee.

Two coaches with 1000+ wins now
All the Ivy League needs to become relevant again is to diversify its OOC schedule.

We used to have Herb Magee as the keynote speaker at all of our basketball end-of-season banquets since he was local. Great guy, great basketball mind. Good for him getting to where he's gotten to.

Re: Two coaches with 1000+ wins now
There are actually FIVE:
1. Pat Summitt, Tennessee 1974-2012, 1,098 wins
2. Harry Statham, McKendree 1967-Present, 1,088 wins
3. Danny Miles, Oregon Tech 1971-Present, 1,017 wins
4. Mike Krzyzewski, Army 1975-1980, Duke 1980-Present, 1,005 wins
5. Herb Magee, Philadelphia 1967-Present, 1,003 wins
The list is about to expand rather quickly in the next couple of years or so. Jim Boeheim at Syracuse (963 wins), Vivian Stringer at Rutgers (952 wins), Sylvia Hatchell at North Carolina (954 wins), Tara Vanderveer at Stanford (941 wins), Andy Landers at Georgia (940 wins), Barbara Stevens at Bentley (926 wins), Geno Auriemma at UCONN (902 wins), and Jody Conradt at Texas (900 wins) are nearing that prestigious plateau.

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

Statham - I've never heard of him. Is he in the NAIA level as a women's or a men's coach? I posted some articles about Miles a few years ago.SuperHornet wrote:There are actually FIVE:

Magee is very well respected throughout basketball as one the preeminent shooting coaches. His Textile (name of Phila U. back then) teams were really good in the seventies capable of giving D-1 teams headaches.

Statham coached NAIA men's until just recently when the school moved to D2.bonarae wrote:Statham - I've never heard of him. Is he in the NAIA level as a women's or a men's coach? I posted some articles about Miles a few years ago.SuperHornet wrote:There are actually FIVE:

Re: Two coaches with 1000+ wins now
Eh, I still separate men's and women's basketball. Unless a coach did both sports, they are entirely different sports and should be separate. I never see people try to compare softball coaching records with baseball coaching records despite the similarity. Never understood why it happens in basketball so much.SuperHornet wrote:There are actually FIVE:

Thank goodness that a real man, coaching real basketball, is going to be on top of that list soon.SuperHornet wrote:There are actually FIVE:
