When your "big" man gets 1-2 rebounds and 5 points a game...yeah. The Griz are pretty good at 1-3 but the 4-5, especially 5, is questionable at the best.Grizalltheway wrote:Never thought I'd see the day with a Tinkle-coached team.grizzaholic wrote:

Tinkle's teams have always underachieved on rebounding. Even the team with Qvale & Selvig both starting ('10-11) only won the boards by 1.7 per game.Grizalltheway wrote:Never thought I'd see the day with a Tinkle-coached team.grizzaholic wrote:

I like the idea of pressing & going small ball more. The Griz have done that a bit starting with the St. Martin's game, & their steal numbers have been up noticeably since that point. Unfortunately, the team hasn't been shooting quite as lights out as they were prior to that. And the pressure can backfire as we saw against NAU (did the Griz force a single turnover with the press late in that game?).

Wow, Sac's women go down again… this time against a weak PSU team that's without arguably their best player.

Well, it's starting to look like our offense is getting untracked again, but ALSO like we'll NEVER have any defense whatsoever. SMH....
SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

Maybe Weber's lulled into a false sense of security? The last Montana regular-season win in Ogden came from the worst Griz team in recent memory ('03-04).AZGrizFan wrote:Meh....this one don't seem to have the allure of years past....Wildcat Ryan wrote:Ah Weber/Griz again, love these games.

Thats a pretty dang good Griz team, I sure hope they dont hit the three up in Missoula like they did tonight, man.
i would say that from the size of the crowd and the noise they brought and the intensity of the players from both schools that this rivalry even in down years for both schools is still hot. Weber needed the crowd and a little more tonight. Great game.

Re: Big Sky Basketball - 2013-14
The Griz played pretty well relatively speaking, but didn't quite have enough. Deshields & Jamar getting nicked up at key times didn't help. I will say this was Montana's best defensive week of the year, though.Wildcat Ryan wrote:Thats a pretty dang good Griz team, I sure hope they dont hit the three up in Missoula like they did tonight, man.

Montana's 3 bigs were all worthless in this one. Martin was out of position & hacking constantly as usual, Hutchison didn't do anything, and Kemp didn't even try to do anything (no shot attempts, WTF?)

And the high-octane Hornet women apparently scored just 53 in Pocatello tonight.
