March Madness - Conference Tournament Thread
Re: March Madness - Conference Tournament Thread
Yeah I don't know what was with the students this year. When Curry was here we averaged 5-6k per game. In the 2 years since he left we've been around 2-3k. You would have thought this year, with the success in conference we had, those numbers would be higher.
Our fans, students in particular, our fickled.

Re: March Madness - Conference Tournament Thread
We've tipped off for the day:
What to watch for today:
A-Sun
Quarters wrap up with
Jacksonville and North Florida in cross-town matchup
Lipscomb and Mercer in what should be a good one
Big South
the semifinals
upset minded High Point against UNC-Asheville
Costal (top seed) against VMI
NEC
starts tonight with the quarters
CCSU and St. Francis (NY)
LIU and St. Francis (PA)
Qunnipiac and Mount St. Mary's
Robert Morris and Wagner
LIU is the top seed
OVC
quarterfinals tonight
Tenn Tech and Tenn-Martin (winners in an upset in the opening round)
Austin Peay and SEMO (also upset winners)
Missouri Valley (Arch Madness)
opening round
Southern Illinois and Illinois St
Drake and Bradley
America East
what amounts to a play-in game
UMBC and Binghamton
Regular season with implications
MEAC
Maryland Eastern Shore plays Delaware St
and
Howard plays Hampton
if one wins and the other loses - loser doesn't make the MEAC tournament - if they both win or lose UMES is in.
Big West
UC Davis against CS Northridge
a Davis loss eliminates them from the tournament
SWAC
Southern against TX Southern
and
Alcorn St against Prairie View
If Southern loses or if Prairie View beats Alcorn St - they are out of the SWAC tournament
If PV beats Alcorn - that also eliminates Alcorn.

Re: March Madness - Conference Tournament Thread
SLC is next week, March 8-12. 1 more game to go for each. Right now the teams in are:
McNeese 10-5 (tiebreaker)
TXST 10-5
NWS 9-6
SFA 9-6
SAM 9-6
NSU 8-7
SELU 8-7
UTSA 8-7
OUT
UTA 7-8
UCA
Lamar 7-8
TAMUCC
Winner gets the higher seed:
NSU @ SELU
SFA @ NWS
Meaningful:
Lamar @ McNeese (Lamar taking McNeese and TXST winning would give the 'cats the 1 seed)
TXST @ SAM - Cats need to win to hold out a chance for #1 seed
TAMUCC @ UCA - no bearing
UTSA @ UTA - UTSA has to win to stay in the tourney mix. A UTA win would make these teams even @ 8-8 and UTA would hold the tiebreaker.

That's basically how the whole season went. They either play great early and lose (vs. TSU and MVSU) or they fall behind early and make a late run and lose (every other game but Jackson St). TSU beat us in OT at the begining of the season. The team lacks a go to scorer and a solid PG.Jags looked like they were having a good first half... what happened? TX South just remember who was the top of the conference? foul trouble?tampajag wrote:

On a positive note our women won their 2nd straight SWAC title.

I just put how it stands before the last game. To be honest - there are about 20 scenarios and TXST could be anywhere from the 1st to 4th seed, according to how things go Saturday. To be #1 we have to win and MSU lose. If we lose, well, it's a big jumbled mess. Someone posted all the scenarios on BobcatReport. I got dizzy reading it all.
