Re: Big Sky Postseason Thread
NoCo edged South Dakota by 1 in the WNIT second round. SoDak was down three when Nicole Seekamp hit a jump shot with 1 second left, but the refs apparently reviewed it and said her foot was on the line. Strange (of course) led the Bears with 14 points, 8 boards, and 3 steals. The Coyotes were one of the better 3-point shooting teams in the nation coming in, but went just 2/16 in this game. UNC will travel to UCLA for their third game Thursday.
The ESPN comment thread on this is kinda funny. There's apparently some controversy regarding the fact the Greeley got to host the game.

The postseason is looking nothing like the regular season as Sac leads EWU 80-46 with about 2:00 left (EWU won by 1 in Hornet Gym in February). Looks like the Hornets will play St. Mary's in the 3rd. round—the winner of that could end playing NoCo.

Oh? Is that so, Venus? Sac beat EWU 73-67 in Cheney back in January....Mvemjsunpx wrote:The postseason is looking nothing like the regular season as Sac leads EWU 80-46 with about 2:00 left (EWU won by 1 in Hornet Gym in February). EDIT: It's a final. Sac wins 84-49....

Yes, I know. This game was Sacramento, which is why I was comparing it to the earlier loss.SuperHornet wrote:Oh? Is that so, Venus? Oh, and Sac will apparently get another home game against SMC Thursday.

The 49 points was the fewest allowed by the Hornets since the Dan Muscatell (pre-Westhead-style) era in 2008-09, and the fewest scored by the Eagles since November, 2012.
Eastern lost the boards by 17 and were outshot 45%-34%. If you do that against a team like Sac, you're pretty much guaranteed to lose in a blowout. Lexie Nelson lead the Eags with 12 points and 5 steals in her final game.

Nice. Good to see the BSC teams getting some home games in these tournaments. I wonder how much this is costing us? Can't imagine these bids are too cheap.
Lady Hornets host on Thursday night at 7 PM. We lost at St. Mary's earlier in the season. I look at the EWU score and can't help but think that a lot of this has to do with the bench. Harkleroad uses his whole bench, have to think that is really having an impact this late in a season.

NoCo down 8 at the half, Sac down 4.
St. Mary's has yet to attempt a 3-pointer. The Hornets have attempted 26.

The Big Sky WBB season officially came to an end tonight as both UNC & Sac State fell in the 3rd. round of the WNIT. The Bears lost to UCLA 74-60 after overcoming a double-digit deficit earlier in the game—Stephanie Lee had 31 while D'Shara Strange had 12 points & 9 boards (but 6 TOs) in their final games for NoCo. Sac also overcame a deficit, but really looked tired late & went cold in missing 14 of their last 16 three-point attempts. Fantasia Hilliard had 13 points and 6 assists in her final Hornet contest.

Re: Big Sky Postseason Thread
Lady Hornets fall to St. Mary’s 77-69. An early dry spell let SM jump out to an early lead but the Lady Hornets were able to battle back. The game went back and forth until another Hornet dry spell in the last 5 minutes of the game let SM put it away. The Hornets had a handful of 3’s go in and out and that was the difference tonight. Attendance was pretty solid; I’d estimate that it was at least ¾’s full.
Great season and great WNIT run by the Lady Hornets. Very exciting and fun style to watch. Well done!

Almost a crushing defeat for the 'Jacks since they blew a 10-point lead in the second half. Jordyn Martin & Len Springs both had double-doubles for NAU.dbackjon wrote:NAU advances over Kent state in overtime. And he was down five with 30 seconds to go Kent State turned it over three times in a row
The Lumberjacks will play the winner of Canisius/NJIT; don't know where, don't know when.

Good to hear NAU gets to host. Foolerton should attend to get an up close view of his next membership target NJIT.Mvemjsunpx wrote:NAU will host Too NJIT to Quit on Tuesday in the semis.

Re: Big Sky Postseason Thread
Given the fact that we house Hartford and Binghamton, that makes a LOT of sense, SD. In fact, Sac hosts the Big Sky Men's Golf Championship in Angels Camp (say what?!?) at the end of April. You'll get to see those odd "Big Sky" schools if you go. Can you imagine adding NJIT to that mix? May as well resurrect the bogus Great West Conference, which "boasted" Houston Baptist and NJIT in hoops....SDHornet wrote:Good to hear NAU gets to host. Re: Big Sky Postseason Thread
Why do people care so much that Hartford & Binghamton are in the Big Sky for men's golf? It's men's golf. Who cares? Teams don't really play "home" games anyway and it's a sport almost nobody pays attention to. Are people wasting time complaining about the fact that the Big East houses Denver for men's lacrosse? I don't think so.SuperHornet wrote:Given the fact that we house Hartford and Binghamton, that makes a LOT of sense, SD. Well, there WAS a big to-do over the "original" Big East's flirtation with Boise State and San Diego State....Mvemjsunpx wrote:Why do people care so much that Hartford & Binghamton are in the Big Sky for men's golf? How so? It would have spread the Big East out worse than the Sun Belt, which has pretty much always been the benchmark for spread-out leagues....grizband wrote:Much different situation thereSuperHornet wrote:

NAU up 1 with 1:37 left. The game is on CBS Sports Net.
The Walkup Skydome actually has fans for the first time in about 9 years.
'Jacks now up 4 with 17 seconds left.
