No shit.

Here I will quote you.

If you don't include the name of the person you are quoting, you might be a mid-major.

Shaka Smart says no to Marquette.
He turned down UCLA last year. Is the PAC a mid major too? Sheesh!

If you need to justify your conference from being a mid-major...you might be a mid major.

Another blow for the Big East next season

Big East recruiting went very well in 2014. Five teams rated in the top 21 in the article I read on Bleacher Report. Seton Hall topped the ratings for the Big East at 11th.

Apparently high school basketball players still think the Big East is a MAJOR conference. :D

That's the best you got? Guess there really can't be an argument when the recruiting is that strong though.

Recruiting does seem to be going well. :thumb:

I'd still be a little worried about the conference if I were you. Marquette loses a coach to the ACC and gets turned down twice before they can fill the position. St John's has just lost two players who intend to either go pro or transfer.

No doubt every league has turnover like this, but with the landscape changing like it is, every move brings that much more uncertainty.

Not to mention that the recruitng class being talked about had largely been recruited before the entirety of the new Big East had been seen. Now that the season is behind the Big East and they crashed out early in every postseason tournament they played in, and now that the rotten TV ratings Big East games got on the sports channel that isn't ESPN, we'll see how things pan out going forward.

And anyway, when Seton Hall supposedly brings in the best class for the conference, that's not good news for the conference.

You may have topped yourself with this one! The 11th best class in the nation is bad news for the conference? :D

Seton Hall, dude. Supposedly the best thing going in the Big East is Seton Hall. That and the annual hope that St. John's will reclaim the glory days of 30 years ago.

Exactly what I've said before.

Going forward we will see. The ratings from FS1 this year weren't nearly what the BE (or FS1) wanted/expected

updating a list from earlier in the thread

By conference title/FF breakdown. Old conference alignment comes first...current comes after the /

ACC: 5/6 titles, 6/7 title game appearances, 9/11 Final Fours, 4/5 different schools in F4
B1G: 0/0 titles, 5/5 title game appearances, 10/10 Final Fours, 5/5 different schools in F4
Big 12: 1/1 title, 3/3 title game appearances, 8/9 Final Fours, 4/5 different schools in F4
Pac 12: 0/0 titles, 1/1 title game appearance, 3/3 Final Fours, 1/1 school in F4
SEC: 3/3 titles, 4/4 title game appearances, 7/7 Final Fours, 3/3 schools in F4
Big East: 4/0 titles, 4/2 title games, 10/5 Final Fours, 5/4 schools in F4
AAC: (obviously 0 in contemp.) 4 titles, 5 title games, 8 Final Fours, 3 schools in F4

So a conference that literally didn't exist a year ago now has more titles currently in their trophy case since I was born than a Big East

UConn's easiest win in the tourney. Every other game was a battle.

Are you admitting that UConn was under seeded? Last week you said they beat ISU and MSU because they were at home. What is your excuse now?

Nova #2 seed in 2015 Bracketology!!! Here's to hoping they finally get an easy road to the Final. Losing to the eventual champ in 4 of the last few years is getting old.

OH. I get it now. Because you lost to the national champion means you are a good team. :dunce: You do understand that argument is invalid...right?
