People hate Duke for the same reason they hate the Yankees.........jealousy.

These people wish their team had a coach with the ability to recruit, teach and work the refs like Coach K does. They also wish their team's game were on national TV every weekend and were talked about everday on Sportscenter, etc...

They also wish their team had 27 world championships or 4 NCAA championships.

Must be hard to root for the front runners. Of course UNC fans have 5 NCAA championships (if you count 1924), so not sure it's jealousy on their part--especially as UNC is never on national TV or SportsCenter. As to the Yankees...FTY.

North Carolina has a lot more UNC fans than Dook fans. Most Dook fans from NC (that I know) claim to like Dook because the grandfather did. Their grandfather more than likely liked Dook because he didn't like the that UNC had black players.
