Griz beat Oregon State at home, 71-66. The Pac-10 must suck, because UM is 2-0 against them but 2-4 against other western DI conferences.
Re: 2010-11 Big Sky Basketball
Washington, Washington State, Arizona. That is the Pac-10 this season, no other team even has an outside shot at making the NCAA Tournament. Good win for the Griz but that really doesn't help the Pac-10's RPI for my Cougs trying to snag an at large bid when March rolls around.

Re: 2010-11 Big Sky Basketball
Neither Stanford nor Oregon has a quality win and Stanford has that bad loss to Tulsa. I do believe Stanford will finish in the middle of the Pac-10 and be competitive (maybe 7-11/8-10 in Pac-10 play) but they certainly won't challenge for an NCAA bid. Oregon has surprised me this season and they played a great second half against Missouri, almost coming back to win the game. The Duck's issue right now is depth, they have 4 guys right now averaging 30 minutes of playing time per game. Look at the box score of the Missouri game, they played 7 players. That works against NDSU, Denver, Texas Southern, etc but in conference play when they have to play Thursday night then again on Saturday every single week it is really going to start taking it's toll. Stanford and Oregon will probably knock off some good conference teams in play this year but as far as contending for a Pac-10 title or an NCAA bid, yes, they are absolutely pretenders.

NAU leads Arizona, 31-24, at the half.
And a big "ruh-roh" for Weber as Damian Lillard missed the second half/overtime with an injury in their loss to Tulsa. Lillard was reportedly on crutches.

NAU now down 3 with 37 seconds left. The 'Jacks are dominating shooting & rebounds, but they can't force turnovers while Arizona has hit 10 treys.NAU leads Arizona, 31-24, at the half.

If NAU had gotten some calls, they would have won. Cameron Jones got butchered everytime he drove the lane, but no calls. UA only had three fouls called on them first 19 1/2 minutesMvemjsunpx wrote:

That was fun. Although the end result was not what the small NAU contingency in attendance was hoping for, it was a great night to watch hoops in soggy Tucson. NAU may not have had the better pure athletes on the court but they had the better team for 3/4 of the game. U of A's speed and size won out in the very end. U of A beat NAU at their own game by hitting the three's. That was the difference. NAU, amazingly, won the inside game and controlled tempo for a bulk of the game. No quit in this Lumberjacks team. Color me impressed with their effort under uneasy travel/weather/finals circumstances.
Re: the questionable calls. Of course the benefit of the doubt will go to the Pac-10 (BCS conference) team over a Big Sky (FCS) team. That isn't how it should be but that's how it is in college athletics. My concern is that the U of A pulls an ASU and quits scheduling the Lumberjacks in basketball due to the fact that they just may lose one of these days.
All kinds of positives to take out of this. From what I've seen I predict the Big Sky to be a dogfight this season. A few BSC teams that seem down but a few highly competitive teams also. Go Jacks!

Looks like Damian Lillard is out for the rest of the season for Weber. That's definitely bad news for the Wildcats.

It looks like a two-way race between Montana & NAU now. MSU could get hot & win the tourney, but I don't think they're good enough to win the regular season grind.

No way, Lillard might have been our best player, but we took Tulsa into overtime without him or our second leading scorer Scott Bamforth. Weber still has loads of talent, they will still be very tough to beat.
Weber has won the Big Sky with players Not named Damion Lillard before.
