Re: The Cuse
Truth be told, Syracuse hasn't played anywhere near their "A" game since Duke. I would've bet serious $$ against the Cuse in Cameron Saturday, but I was shocked like everyone else that they went down to a bad BC team last night. Couldn't hit anything last night, played bad defense after halftime and they're no longer undefeated. For the 1st 35 minutes last night that place was as quiet as 25K people can be. Shame on the SU student section - they can be pretty awful most games.

Re: The Cuse
Great game tonight with an unfortunate ending. Ref misses a call that's been called correctly all year, even correctly earlier in the game the other way. I'm fine with Boeheim's reaction, not one Cuse fan would think any different. All that being said they need to get better offensively. Fair played well tonight, nobody else really did.

Agree with you on the call but not on Boeheim's reaction. In that situation you have to really ask for 1 T. 2Ts you have to beg for.bluehenbillk wrote:Great game tonight with an unfortunate ending. Duke was up 2 with 10 seconds to go when the bad foul was called on Cuse. Boeheim's 2 Ts cost Syracuse 3 points (3 of 4 FTs made). When they fouled on the inbound pass, the shooter made 1 of 2. Assuming you take away the Ts, they would have had an opportunity to tie the game with a 3. Boeheim's Ts prevented this opportunity.

Agreed, no need to end the game there with the tirade when the team still had a chance left. Duke wasn't hitting free throws all night and, as you spell out, Syracuse would've had a chance to tie the game likely on their next possession.tribe_pride wrote:Agree with you on the call but not on Boeheim's reaction. Heck, even CJ Fair seemed to take issue with Boeheim's reaction when he gave his post game comments. If the players are saying stuff like that, they surely thought the reaction was a bit much.

Re: The Cuse
I understand Fair's comments but it's hard just not to react. I jumped off my couch at the call, my 9-year old went ballistic, Boeheim in the end acted like almost every Cuse fan out there. I mean if he smiles & waves his hands no then he probably gets ripped too.
The games really end up counting in March. I'll settle for the message has been clearly sent that teams aren't going to walk into Cameron just to get hosed like they have been for the past 3 decades anymore.

The Gang That Can't Shoot Straight got a W last night and did it shorthanded without Jerami Grant who has had back spasms. Saturday at Virginia will be for the ACC Regular season title.

Re: The Cuse
They are really struggling of late. Another call that could have gone either way at the end of the game and this one keeps Boeheim on the bench and happy. Don't get those often on the road. Any road win is a good one though.

Re: The Cuse
Yes a road win is a good win, and yes agreed they are really struggling on the offensive end of the floor. Ennis & especially Cooney have struggled. Ennis needs to penetrate more & find closer shots or dish to open men. Fair has tried carrying things, Grant is a solid player, 1st round material, but he's playing in pain now. Christmas is viable but never a top option. They only really go 7 deep as well which isn't going to help the deeper you get into the season.vutomcat wrote:They are really struggling of late. Shit, Syracuse lost at home to Georgia Tech.
Bowheem's Boyz will lose in the second round.

Re: The Cuse
wow. Team starts 25-0, granted the last few were shaky & then goes 1-4 in the next 5.
They just can't score. 2 ACC games they've topped 70 points, 15 games they haven't.
There's no depth with Grant out & Coleman done for the year.
I see another loss very likely in Tallahassee Sunday.
I'd rest Grant until the ACC tourney.
The only thing they have going for them is the sites for the NCAA tourney - Buffalo & MSG. but, if you can't beat BC or GT in the Dome well....ugh

See UConn 2013... but the Huskies self-imposed their ban before the start of the season. That may open the door for another First Four at-large team trying to get away from it. The Syracuse ban will affect all bracketologies.Grizalltheway wrote:Ouch!

All the Ivy League needs to become relevant again is to diversify its OOC schedule.

Another cheater from the ACC. Still can't believe nothing happened to North Carolina.
I hate to see kids that weren't involved get punished so I am not big on banning teams from the tournament. I think a more appropriate sanction is to suspend the coaches for a year for egregious offenses.

Howard Porter and vacated NCAA wins, illegal mass use of free phone cards, doing cocaine prior to a Final Four game. Glass houses, man, glass houses. There's plenty of bad actors in college sports. Think of it this way, though, we're all spared the potential drudgery of seeing a merely average Syracuse team play post season ball this year. We're all winners in that regard then.vutomcat wrote:Another cheater from the ACC. Still can't believe nothing happened to North Carolina.

They said they were cheating when they were in the Big East not in the ACC. They just admitted it now.vutomcat wrote:Another cheater from the ACC. Still can't believe nothing happened to North Carolina.

When you have to reference an issue (Porter) from over 40 years ago you might be a hater.GannonFan wrote:Howard Porter and vacated NCAA wins, illegal mass use of free phone cards, doing cocaine prior to a Final Four game. But serioulsy, don't you think the coaches should be the ones that pay the price? It would be more effective than self imposed sanctions in a year that they might not have even made the tourney.

Technically they are in the ACC now. But you are correct that the offenses occurred while in the Big East.tribe_pride wrote:They said they were cheating when they were in the Big East not in the ACC. What do you think about punishing the coaches?
