Things like this at the HS level generally end up in the next edition of the NFHS Case Book that can be ordered with the NFHS Rules Book and the NFHS Officials Manual. (I'm in the middle of reading the NFHS Track and Field Officials Manual, having just finished the Track Rules Book and Case Book. There are many things in there that seem obvious and other things that are really stupid. The things there probably happened at SOME point, though there are things that seem like, "Would someone REALLY do something like that?!?") I wouldn't be surprised if the same thing happens with the NCAA.Mvemjsunpx wrote:I wonder if the NCAA will address this kind of thing in the next rulemaking summit (or whatever they call it).

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

Got to hand it to you, it takes a large set of brass balls to post this after the beat down Jon (new Jon, not the gay one) laid on griz fans. A for effort though.Ursus A. I touched on this on my last comment on bigskybball, but I'll mention it here. The timing of the whistle was irrelevant because the replay stoppage to check the time was inevitable. There was no way the Big Sky refs were going to let NAU inbound the ball then because they were going to go to the monitor no matter what.
Jesus Christ, the rest of you non Griz bitching about this just gotta pack it in and stfu cuz these Griz guys are just fucking lacing you. Quit embarrassing yourselves.

I was thinking you didn’t see the “not equal” symbol clearly. I really had no idea where you were going with your comments. Apology accepted.grizzaholic wrote:OK. The beat down is clear as day and it is the Griz fans trying to talk logic to the little people. All NAU had to do was inbound the ball and you slap asses would be dead on. That didn't happen so you are not.
Think of it in a football sense. When a defensive player jumps and gets back before the ball is snapped there is no penalty. If the ball is snapped...penalty. I'm trying to help you bumpkins out here, please take this gift I am offering you.
BTW, the ESPN dudes said this happened last year in the PAC 12 between Oregon and I think it was Stanford with the same result (no technical) and if the NCAA wasn't willing to look at it then and change I doubt this has much affect on them.

Easy Jon, at this point he is clearly just trolling. Well done Ursus.

Me too.jon wrote:To me, if there is any chance that the interference caused the ball to not be inbounded, that is enough. It looks like the inbounder is looking directly that way to throw the ball in before the whistle is blown, which to me means he could have interfered with him throwing the ball into that side.Mvemjsunpx wrote: But does the interference count if the ball was never inbounded? It could be like pass interference in football, I guess—it can't be pass interference if the ball isn't thrown to the interfered receiver. Does the ball have to be inbounded before the tech can be called? I don't know, and the rule you cited in an earlier blog post is too vague to really know since it mainly addresses live-ball situations. I'm not convinced this was a live-ball situation, especially with the timeout to review coming into play. I do agree with you that the Griz got lucky to avoid the T, but for me it was fortunate timing that saved them & not an error by the officiating crew.
The fact that he didn't throw it in could be read as there being no interference, or that could be read as a reason why there was interference, IMO.
Thanks for the discussion mvem, I've enjoyed going back and forth on it.
