Men's Standings Entering Conference Play
Since no-one has played a conference game, teams are ranked by RPI (the final Big Sky tiebreaker). Conference streaks (the first streak number) are from the end of last year & include the tournament. Portland State is shown in gray because they cannot make the Big Sky Tournament.

Re: 2010-11 Big Sky Basketball
Montana beats NAU in a possible title preview, 83-80. The Griz trailed a bit early, took a 16-point lead, then nearly blew said lead because NAU couldn't miss. Both teams shot over 50% from the field & the arc (the Griz were shooting just 27% from the arc coming in) and NAU shot 59% in the second half, but still just broke even.
Montana gave up 70+ for the first time since mid-November.

Re: 2010-11 Big Sky Basketball
Not that anyone cares about the prolific Sac State and EWU hoops programs, but EWU knocked off Sac State in OT. EWU had a comfortable lead in the second half but failed to put it away at the FT line. The Hornets climbed back and took a late lead. With the game tied and 33 seconds on the clock, the Hornets had a chance to win it...only Katz had no idea what play to call and the Hornets didn't even get a decent shot off. The Hornets had multiple players fouled out and were run over in OT. Refs had a field day as over 70 fouls were called. For the most part the sh!tty calls went both ways so it hurt both teams. EWU got most of the calls in OT but it didn't matter, the Hornets didn't have enough players to battle up and down the court for 5 additional minutes. I had a little hope that the Hornets could at least contend for the 6th BSC Tournament spot but it's obvious it will take a miracle for that to happen.

Re: 2010-11 Big Sky Basketball
Just got back from the UM/Weber game. We looked pretty good today, absolutely dismantling the Wildcats 75-56. At this (incredibly early) juncture I think it would be safe to say that the Griz are the favorites for snagging the 1 seed in the conference tournament.

Re: 2010-11 Big Sky Basketball
With the game tied at 60 and coming out of a timeout, Katz calls the same stupid play that didn't work in the EWU game against ISU. Of course it didn't work and the game went to OT where the Hornets were ran off the court. The loss pretty much guarantees the Hornets to finish dead last in the BSC again. Katz was clueless yet again as he allowed a late 5 point lead to evaportate. The man just doesn't know how to win.

Women's Standings Entering Conference Play
Since no-one has played a conference game, teams are ranked by RPI (the final Big Sky tiebreaker). Conference streaks (the first streak number) are from the end of last year & include the tournament. The records aren't too good (aside from ISU), but several teams played very tough non-conference schedules. The Bengals have won 6 in a row, but their schedule is a bit odd: they haven't played a DI game since Dec. 11.

Re: 2010-11 Big Sky Basketball
You know, it's rather disturbing what's happened to Lady Griz basketball over the past couple years. A conference title and NCAA berth used to be as consistent as the sun rising in the East....now they've been relgated to an afterthought in the conference race.
What happened?
And is this what we have to look forward to from the football team?

If they could shoot, they'd be good. Unfortunately, they can't shoot… Seriously, Montana has lost 6 of the 9 DI games they've led at the half and horrid second-half shooting was the culprit in 4 of those 6.AZGrizFan wrote:You know, it's rather disturbing what's happened to Lady Griz basketball over the past couple years. Last year's dropoff wasn't too surprising given what was lost, and this year's team is even younger than last year's—only 5 of the 15 players are upperclasswomen & the two juniors rarely or never play. Also, Kenzie De Boer broke her finger in October & hasn't been able to get her touch back (except on free throws).
