You just made it worse. He wasn't trying to say that Nova was a bad basketball school. He has been trying to say that it has not done well in the Tournament recently and your post backs that up.

I'm not arguing that they have had a lot of recent tournament success. Who would argue that?

That is what the rest of us have been saying on this whole thread and you have been arguing against us for the past 2 (?) years.

This whole thing makes the t-shirts celebrating being ranked #1 even better.

It's because it hasn't happened before. Look at all the tournament bids. Look at the national profile that VU has, for some reason. Look at the dozens of spin points that tomcat has been pulling then entire thread....yet 2016 was the first time in their ENTIRE HISTORY being ranked #1.

A school with that kind of tradition - regular season, of course - should be well above making a shirt to brag about being #1.

Hell, UNI was ranked in the top 10 last year and we didn't make a shirt about it. UNI has an athletic budget of 17ish million total and a basketball budget of about 2.5-3 million and have been full D1 since only 1982, I think and were complete garbage until about 2002. Even we think it's small time to make a shirt about that.

I can't imagine being a fan of a wanna be blue blood and making a shirt like that. Then again, given how much of the last decade has played out for VU hoops, I get it. Celebrate the small things.

Tribe- that is not an accurate representation of this thread. But, apparently accuracy isn't a priority here. Villanova 's history speak s for itself. Success in the tournament -51 victories speaks for itself. Success in the recent tournaments has only been addressed by me to explain some of the failures. You and the others claim that the. Big East is the reason. I have other thoughts that I have explained in detail .

Nope. Just because you say it doesn't make it true.

and, they hold on somehow. They move up in seed. Good for them. That top recruiting class two years ago is maturing.

Cats move to 2 seed. They should still play in Brooklyn for first weekend so it's a short ride. I believe they are undefeated in that venue.

Good luck. I don't follow college basketball, but I do see enough Philly sports coverage to know Nova is very good, and I saw the score when I was out to eat with my sons and was shocked.

This time of year everyone should be a fan. Hope you see a few games and catch the fever. Fill out a bracket, it gives you teams to root for.

Yeah, because if multiple posters agree, it must be true. You're kidding right? If not, show everyone the posts where I am arguing that Nova has had recent tournament success. You won't find them, because they aren't there.

It's not that hard 89. This thread is pretty clear. Figured you had nothing. Maybe keep to football?

Ok I get it now. This is Clucker humor! I can hear the banjos in the background. And if I wanted to I could use a hundred emojis but it doesn't change anything.

We need an emoji for something flying right over your head. Truth be told, that emoji would be valid for really most of this thread and your interpretation of it. It's clear you just don't get it.

Without NCAA tournament success, Big East is neither beauty nor beast

https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/c ... story.html

Of the 10 Big East teams to reach the tournament the past two years, only one — Xavier, which lost to Arizona in the round of 16 last season — advanced to the second weekend. Five were upset by lower-seeded opponents. Four lost their first game. Overall, the Big East has gone 7-10 in the NCAA tournament since the overhaul.

The primary culprit has been Villanova, which has romped through three consecutive seasons and earned a 2 seed, a 1 seed and, this year, another 2 seed in the tournament. The Wildcats, who made the Final Four under Coach Jay Wright in 2009, have been branded as underachievers for losing in the round of 32 the previous two seasons.

Interesting stat:

Villanova is the only team in the tournament who has zero losses to non-tournament teams.
