We won't get more changes until likely after the regular season ends.

In the meantime, here's my 2010 College Basketball Coaches Hotseat article...

anybody here want to coach a college "team"? Can't believe how far Southern has fallen 2006 tourney team to barely being able to compete with local high schools.

As expected, UNCW has fired Benny Moss...although most thought it would be AFTER the season ended.

Jank can't win no matter what he does this year. He brought the team from a bottom feeder to the top, raised expectations but now has a team full of selfish players who can't play together....

Between him, Les, and Altman,Lowery, and Cuanzo this year the valley is fun to watch coachwise...the only safe job appears to be the rat in Wichita and Coach Jake

Joe Dooley is the early favorite for the ECU job, while Randy Peele of Winthrop and Ritchie McKay of UVa (formerly Liberty) are apparently also in the mix.

I want Wagner to pursue Danny Hurley (Seton Hall and a member of the Hurley basketball clan). Danny has the recruiting contacts in the NYC / NJ area. We don't get enough of these players.

Belotti is not commenting on whether or not Kent is out at Oregon. Rumors usually come up in March in Eugene that Kent is done, then his teams usually make some miraculous run through the Pac-10 tournament and his job is safe. As the ninth place team, though, this year may take quite a miraculous run.

Kent is quietly known as "the Cat" more so due to how many lives he has used up and still is coaching at Oregon. The Oregonian columist John Canzano, thought by many to be very anti-Duck, reports that Oregon wants to look at former Seton Hall coach, P.J. Carlisimo, who has tooled around the NBA since leaving the college ranks. Rumor also says they will try to "impress" Gonzaga coach Few, an Oregon grad and native of nearby Creswell, but it is thought that Few is fine in Spokane. St. Mary's coach Bennett is rumored to be included as well.

Still, don't count Kent out. He was supposedly done after last year, yet came back. He runs a close, tight, and more importantly clean program (in light of the recent troubles of the football program). His teams have a high graduation rate, highest in the Pac-10. He has taken the Duck program to the Elite 8 as recently as 3 years ago. The belief is, though, that Kent is not enough of a "name" to bring the program into their new arena. That said, other than the NBA experience, I don't know how much of a name Carlisimo is, especially on the west coast. His ties to the area is that he coached the Blazers a long time ago (and not too distinguished in that capacity either).

The only thing saving Pat Kennedy is the state of the economy. I can't imagine Towson paying Gordy AND PK to NOT coach.

I agree. They need PK out though. Just costs too much. It's why i'm a big proponent of schools at a lower level like Towson having an incentive heavy contract. A low base with plenty of room for a boost. Towson or any other lower-level conference school could afford that 1.5 million type of contract if the team is performing. And if the coach leaves, the program is in a good spot to bring in a new coach with a similar contract. I feel for ya, Towson fans. Too bad/good thing PK isn't buying players Corvettes like at FSU when they were on a run.

I wish TXST would buy out Davalos and put Rencher in his place. Damned idiots extending his contract :ohno:

We were 14-16 last season and 15-15 (counting tournaments) this year...is this major improvement?

Lots of schools are in similar spots. And it's sad. The economy just doesn't permit most schools from cutting ties. It's a Catch 22: you need to give your coach multiple years so that recruits feel it's a good move. But when the coach doesn't work out, you have those years left to pay.

Yeah that's what Sac State did when they signed Katz. They gave him a 5 year deal. Fortunately it looks like he has the program headed in the right direction. He was signed late in 2008 and had to grab any local JC players not snatched up by other schools. They only won 2 games in 2008. He just finished his second season with a 9-21 record and has a few decent players returning. A great incoming class can help the Hornets turn the corner to at least compete for a BSC Tournament berth. I'm hoping for a .500 season and a BSC Tournament berth next year.

You're missing the kicker here csi, they just renewed his contract in November 2009.
