App. State gets App. State'd
App. State gets App. State'd
Tiny, local NAIA King College went into Boone and shocked the world (kind of, I know ASU's down this year).
The Tornado had a 19 point lead at one point before winning 87-76.

The story reads like King might've led the whole game. This was a big story on this side of the mountain.

I will take the high road and not poke fun since they do come to our place this Saturday night. Besides, in January 2003, WCU got upset by NAIA Reinhardt 64-63 at our place so I know what the Apps are going through. I gotta admit, I laughed when I saw the score.
Re: App. State gets App. State'd
In their defense, King is pretty good. They are moving up to DII (I think next year).

Oh I agree. Had it been Bluefield State, I would've ripped them a new one.mcveyrl wrote:In their defense, King is pretty good. They are moving up to DII (I think next year).
Re: App. State gets App. State'd
Technically, we've had down years since 06/07. This year is Buzz's first with Fancher's players, so rough patches are expected, but this is just terrible.
And the amazing thing is we're still in good position for a SoCon tourney bye.
This time is insanely bi-polar. Lost to Campbell be 30, then won at Davidson. Lost at a 300 RPI Geogia Southern team, then beat WCU. Some days it looks like they're buying into Buzz ball, and the next they couldn't care less.
Good news is if the rule of being consistently inconsistent holds true, we're due for a winning streak starting in Cullowhee this Saturday.

Inexcusable, but that has been the MO of the team all year. As T-Dog pointed out, we're consistently inconsistent. Oh well, I'm hoping that Buzz can revive the program, and stick around long enough to see it through to more than one tourney appearence (our last, my only...2000). As Roy Williams said, "how could it get worse?"
We've already beaten Davidson (one of my criteria for a successful ASU basketball season), this year, beating West Carolina will be the other.
That was for you Rich.

It's a big win for King, but not on the scale of Chaminade/UVA during the Ralph Sampson days. Not to beat a dead horse, but App really isn't all that down this year, but just can't seem to all show up at the same arena on a consistent basis. I'm hoping we go into the Ramsey Center for a sweep of the kittens Saturday

I almost wasn't surprised when I saw this. Couldn't make it to the game because of work so I can't comment on the Apps play, but they looked fantastic against WCU. I can't imagine how bad they must have played in this game.

And yet with out win tonight and the Cantamount loss, guess who's back in First place in the SoCon North Division.

Hate to say it, but it's just further proof that the SoCon is a bad basketball league this year. (Not that this is different than previous years, just more so)proasu89 wrote:And yet with out win tonight and the Cantamount loss, guess who's back in First place in the SoCon North Division.
However, it helps the Apps to win the North Division when it comes SoCon tourney time, so I'm ok with it.
