Do all teams make it? Neutral site?
In the Big Sky, only top 6 of the 9 teams make it. First Round games are played at the 3 and 4 seed home arenas. Semi-finals and finals are at the Regular Season Champs' home.
Schedule is:
Saturday, March 6
Quarterfinals
No. 6 seed at No. 3 seed
No. 5 seed at No. 4 seed
Tuesday, March 9
Semifinals
at regular-season champion
No. 2 seed vs. Highest Remaining Seed
No. 1 seed vs. Lowest Remaining Seed
Wednesday, March 10
Championship
at Regular-Season Champion

Right now, here's the standing, with the cut line...

Looks like Fordham is really the only one eliminated from top 10. LaSalle, GW, St. Bonnies and St. Joes have 3 wins each.

True...I don't know what the tie-breakers are...head to head competition is most likely going to get one of those four in...

Actually, top 12 make it in the a10.
We've got a new format this year. Top 4 get a bye to Atlantic City. 5-12 play at the higher seed's home court on Tues March 9. Winners advance to AC and play the top seeds - quarters Friday, Semis Sat and the championship game Sunday @ 1pm on CBS.

The SoCon Men's bracket:
Notice the note about Davidson at the bottom:
** - Regardless of seeding, Davidson will play in the Saturday afternoon 2:00 p.m. game if the Wildcats
advance to the quarterfinals. Their opening round game Friday would also be scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
The rest of the bracket will remain intact.
Apparently it's because Golden State and Curry are in town to play the Bobcats Saturday night. Everything about the Southern Conference is completely bush league.

Also the SoCon wants to avoid the possibility of Davidson playing Friday night then Saturday afternoon thus creating "an unfair advantage" to their opponents.
According to the likely scenarios, this would force App from the 2:00 pm slot on Saturday to the 9:15 pm slot and thus a different Session, which would require a different ticket, which is bush league all because Davidson fans want to see Curry.

Things will be different for the Big West this year due to the presence of a 9th team (UC Davis). The top 8 will play vice EVERYONE in the recent past.
Seeds 1 and 2 -- 2 Byes
Seeds 3 and 4 -- 1 Bye
Seed 8 vs. Seed 5
Seed 7 vs. Seed 6
Best Remaining Seed vs. Seed 4
Lower Remaining Seed vs. Seed 3
Best Remaining Seed vs. Seed 2
Lower Remaining Seed vs. Seed 1
Final (Televised)
UC Santa Barbara (9-3) and UOP (8-3) look to be pretty solid for the top 2 spots, though the order may change before March. Long Beach State, UC Davis, and Cow Poly are currently tied in slots 4-6 at 6-6 and #3 UC Foolerton is 7-5, so those look for a wild finish. CS Northridge, UC Irvine, and UC Riverside will fight over the last two spots, but who knows? This season looks like the ultimate in parity....
Incidentally, this could be the first season in ages where EVERYONE has double-digit overall wins. The three worst teams in conference in terms of overall wins all have 9.
Things are a bit different on the girls' side. CS Northridge and UOP are tied for a DISTANT 8th at 2-9 and stand in danger of missing the conference tournament. UOP is up a game head-to-head; the two teams face off 6 MAR to close out the season. A UOP win would clearly seal the bid should there be a tie; a split opens up a can of worms. All spots over this last one seem up for grabs.

In the SWAC the top 8 make the tourney which is being held in Shreveport for the first time. Southern (barring any kind of amazing run) and Alcorn will miss the tourney. It'll be Southern's first time missing the conference tourney. Hard to believe they were league champs wire to wire 4 years ago.

Big South has top eight teams advance to tourney. Top four seeds host quarterfinal games on campus on Tuesday, March 2. #1 seed overall gets right to host semifinals on Thursday, March 4. Final is held, on campus, of highest remaining seed on Saturday, March 6.
The Big South womens tourney is held 100% at High Point University over a three day period Friday-Sunday, March 12-14, which makes a heckuva lot more sense IMHO.

FANTASTIC conference tourney
One of the better moves of the MVC was ditching the on campus format and going to the neutral site in an NBA type arena.

So wish the Big Sky would do this...we have many NBA arena options (Sacramento, Portland, Denver, SLC, Phoenix, heck, even Spokane Arena) and invite all the teams where the play-in game is #8 vs. #9...and bring both the men and the women's teams, bands, cheerleaders, etc. But the Big Sky is void of any real leadership anyways so its just a pipe dream....

Distance is the major reason we can't do that - for the MVC, 6 schools are within a 3-hour or less drive of St. Louis. Furthest are under 7 hours.
Say you picked Salt Lake City - 2 schools within 3 hour drive. Everyone else 8 hours or more.

That's BS, because if everyone in the conference knew ahead of time before the season begins, they would make reservations and go...I know I would...if the conf. reg season title is not decided until the final weekend, its a major pain in the arse to then try and make reservations for wherever. The distance thing is only an excuse, pure and simple.

We will have to disagree. Big Sky used to have it at the site of the previous year's champ, so the site was known well in advance. Attendance wasn't much different that current format.

No, its because there is no real leadership in marketing this conference in the conf. office. Just because that was then (the last time that format was used was 1994, that's about a generation ago). Something needs to change with the conference tourney, generate excitement. With the way its run, there is nothing to get excited about this tourney...the status quo is simply not working!!
What's worse is that then if the reg season champ loses in the semis, the attendance for the final has been terrible (see 2009, 2005, 2002, 2000, 1997) and its really looks bad on ESPN (our one and only game a year on the WWL).

Who fly's? I know UNI drives down, and we have one of the longer drives.
From campus to Scott Trade the MVC breaks down like this
Southern Illinois University - 104 mi - all interstate
Illinois State University - 169 mi - all interstate
Indiana State University - 171 mi - all interstate
Bradley University - 171 mi - all interstate
University of Evansville - 172 mi - all interstate
Missouri State University - 215 mi - all interstate
University of Northern Iowa - 346 mi - all interstate
Drake University - 373 mi - all interstate
Creighton University - 433 mi - all interstate
Wichita State University - 443 mi - all interstate
The average distance is 260 miles.

Also FWIW the MVC Woman's tourney is also a neutral site set up in St. Charles, MO...which is a suburb in the NW of STL.
