UNI clinched it's second straight regular season title, and the first outright conference title in school history with an 18 point victory over rival Creighton. First win for UNI at home vs Creighton in 5 years.

Evansville must suck to have in the MVC. They already destroyed the Shockers' at-large bid...the only other MVC team that had a legit chance, and now they're tryin' to destroy UNI's. I guess God giveth...and Evansville taketh away.

I couldn't believe it when I saw the score this morning. Not the Purple Aces.

There is gaining momentum to get evanvsville out of the league. They are the only team to not do shit the last decade. A win brings RPI down and a loss is just fucking embarrassing. They cost the league two bids this year. Hell, the wore sleeeved jerseys until the late 90s I believe. A loss to ayny other team in the conference would have been acceptable, but this is bad. It's a travishamockery that they, or any school, can be a fucking door mat of a program but kill possibly up to 5 teams at large chances with 2 wins

Fans of the MVC might not like Evansville, but unfortunately for you guys, when's the last time you've heard of a conference kicking out somebody? Teams leave on their own, or are offered membership by other conferences, but I can't recall one team in any league that's been kicked out.

Talk is heating up with getting rid of Evansville for St Louis University. ISUB has been talked about as well. They can't compete in the MVC

Forgot about Temple football, but I'm 95% positive they were the first team in Division 1 history that's been kicked out by their league, and I don't think anyone's been kicked out since anywhere else in the country. Still can't recall anyone being kicked out in all sports.

Message Board talk or AD/Prez talk?

Why the obsession with SLU?
Access to the St. Louis market - St. Louis is a pro town, Cardinals rule followed by Rams, Blues, etc. From a college perspective SLU is smaller player after Missouri & Illinois, plus Mo St, SIU, etc. already give the Valley an alumni presence.

The MVC may covet SLU, but SLU has no interest in the MVC. The A-10 is prob a better basketball conf, and a better fit for them. The A-10 is mostly small private universities.

Started as message board/columnist talk, but there have been speculations flowing through athletic departments about Evansville. Obviously nothing will happen any time soon, I don't believe, but the talk is there.

As for why SLU? The MVC and MVFC offices are in St. Louis. The MVC market in St. Louis has room for major growth.

I would like tho see the conference look like this

University of Northern Iowa
Creighton University
Drake University
Illinois State University
Southern Illinois University
St. Louis University
Missouri State University
Bradley University
Wichita State
Indiana State

I wouldn't be opposed to a good alternative to Indiana State either. However, with ISUB being a football school as well they would be much tougher to replace than Evansville. I don't think they would be willing to stay MVFC but not MVC in anything else. I would love to see Butler take ISUB's spot but I can't see Butler going MVFC

This would be the issue with getting them. The private schools that the MVC has doesn't really fit with SLU. They are all much smaller than SLU. Heck as of 2008, according to Wiki, SLU had just 200 less graduate students than Bradley had undergrads. Population wise SLU would fit in great with the public schools.

SLU was a valley school in the 30's, and Butler was until 74.

Show me a link or article, other than fans on valleytalk, that shows that things are "heating up".

I'd like to kick shit programs like Evansville out of the MVC as much as anybody, but it aint happening anytime soon.

Actually, I think it has been the other way around as of late. The Valley doesn't need SLU, at all. They don't offer anything more than Evansville does, other than being in STL. And the Valley tournament is already in STL, so there is that connection already.

SLU coach Rick Majerus has been lobying hard for the past two season to leave the A10 and join the MVC.

You realize I hear things that the public doesn't with where I work right? I'm not saying it is eminent, or that it will even happen. I'm saying that has been discussion outside of the blogosphere about it.

c'mon man.

I'm sure ADs all over the Valley are saying, "man I fucking hate evansville", but that doesn't mean anything is going to happen.

But then again, I don't work in the ticket office, so maybe I don't know anything. :coffee:

;)

It goes beyond "I hate Evansville" and goes back much further than last night. It goes back quite a while. This isn't something that came out of nowhere. I get you are a douchebag that like to twist what I say. Don't believe me. I'm saying that there has been discussion about Evansville leaving in favor of SLU

Trading SLU for E'ville would do wonders for the conf RPI, and, one might argue, additional national respect

I'd take it in a heartbeat, but I don't see what SLU has to gain by moving down in conf "presteige", or at least perceived presteige.
