Southern's women basketball team clinch SWAC

At least something has went well for Southern in basketball this year. The Lady Jags defeated PVU 55-33 to clinch their first SWAC title since 2006. 
With the shot clock winding down on a botched possession, Southern guard Ashley Augerson scrambled for a loose ball, turned toward the goal and heaved a desperate 3-pointer from 24 feet away.
The loudest crowd of the season rose to its feet inside the F.G. Clark Activity Center, sensing a dagger in the Jaguars’ 61-53 victory over Texas Southern on Saturday afternoon. Teammates stood from their seats on the bench.
