2010 WBI Thread

Just found out that a THIRD D-I women's tournament was started this year, the Women's Basketball Invitational. This is a 16-team tournament divided into two 8-team seeded regions. Appy is the 1 seed in the East (where the only upsets have occurred so far).

West Region:

1 Memphis State vs. 8 UMKC
4 Wichita State vs. 5 Akron
2 TX A&M-Corpus Christi vs. 7 Cal State-Bakersfield
3 Washington vs. 6 U of Portland

East Region:

1 Appalachian State vs. 8 Charleston Southern
4 Towson State vs. 5 Fairfield
2 College of Charleston vs. 7 Morehead State
3 Louisville vs. 6 Bradley

First round play is complete.

Games played 17 MAR:

TX A&M-CC 97, Bako 89.
Washington 75, U of Portland 44.
Coll of Charleston 67, Morehead State 59.
Bradley 69, Louisville 59.

Games played 18 MAR:

Memphis State 72, UMKC 67.
Wichita State 67, Akron 61.
Appy 62, Chuck South 47.
Fairfield 69, Towson State 55.

Quarterfinals to be held 21 MAR:

4 Wichita State @ 1 Memphis State
3 Washington @ 2 TX A&M-CC
5 Fairfield @ 1 Appy
6 Bradley @ 2 Coll of Charleston

Lynchburg Baptist or California Wesleyan din't make the field?

No. While I'm not sure about Lynchburg, Stockton barely made the conference tournament on the girls' side; NO post-season tournament would take them this year. :oops:

Congrats to #1 seed Appalachian State, who knocked off the OTHER #1 seed Memphis State 79-71 to win the Women's Basketball Invitational.
