Tampa Jag did you catch the games with Alabama St and Texas Southern in the NCAA&NIT?Both schools played poorly in the first half then came out in the second halves realizing what was on the line.Hope Hampton's men and women along with Prairie View don't play scared in their matchups. The Lady Pirates have the highest ranking in years they were given the 13th seed and they play SEC power Kentucky they proved that they were worthy of such a high selection after defeating fellow SEC power Florida 69-54 during the regular season the first time they have defeated a school from that conference. The men play against Duke as a 16 seed. Also the only NBA prospect I think can come out of the SWAC is SF/PG Kevin Galloway of Texas Southern he's a Kentucky transfer who's 6'7" 215 and can handle the ball he lead the SWAC in assists averaging 6.7 per game and in the teams loss to Colorado he was on his average with 6 he needs to work on his scoring ability he averages 13 ppg.He reminds me of a young Scottie Pippen what do you think?Hey keep an eye out for Jackson St for the next couple of years saw their hoops roster ONE 7FT'ER TWO 6-10 PF'S ANOTHER 6-9 PF SURPRISED THEY LOST THE TOURNAMENT!!!!!!!!!!! THEY NEED A PG TO GET THESE GUYS THE BALL IN THE LOW POST TOO BAD GALLOWAY WASN'T PLAYING FOR THEM HIS ASSISTS TOTALS WOULD GO THREW THE ROOF!!!!!!!!!

I saw Alabama St's game, they just couldn't contain that guy from UTSA. I didn't see TxSU play and I was highly disappointed in Southern's women.
The one thing I've learned about the SWAC is that a high seed will always lose because imo the teams aren't as different as their records seem.

Yes the guy your talking about was Melvin Johnson III he finished with a career high of 29 points with most of his damage done in the first half. Then in the 2nd half they acted as if they knew what playing defense was about and payed some attention to him but unfortunately it was too late the damage had been done. What was the record of Southern's women squad always thought PVAM was the current powerhouse in the SWAC among the ladies.

Southern was 20-11, they won the regular season SWAC title. They've been in the thick of the SWAC for most of Coach Pugh's tenure.

Thanks I will strongly assume you'll be watching them tonight vs Baylor hey did you check out Hampton vs Kentucky they nearly pulled it out losing only by 4 66-62 in overtime they need to work on their interior defense that is what lost it for them they allowed passes to go with them being defended if the weak side help had shown up most of those easy baskets would have been stopped.Kudos to Hampton they will be a team that will get some national recognition next year after this season having a 13 seed and a 24-8 record. No one will sleep on the lady pirates any more!!!!!!!!

In the Southwestern Athletic Conference, we take our basketball seriously. Very seriously. But no piece of hardware is worth what our athletes pour into the game. They are driven by passion. They are motivated by pride. And they are compelled by a legacy of greatness, as the heirs to some of the proudest traditions in college athletics.

That's what makes SWAC basketball so special. And that's what makes the Farmers Insurance SWAC Basketball Tournament so amazing.

I think Texas Southern SF Kevin Galloway is NBA material last year in the category of assists among Division 1 players he was the only SF among the top ten the rest were point guards with a average of 6.7 per game.
