I think they set a record for worst shooting percentage in a championship game since Wazzou in 1941.CatBlitz22 wrote:Butler was garbage tonight.

Re: Cheaters always win
Yes, Butler played what might have been their worst game of the season.
Poor timing.
But 344 other Division I basketball programs would have loved to have been there tonight. They weren't. Butler was.
GO DAWGS!

No doubt, and I was really pulling for them. 18 percent from the field.SDHornet wrote:Butler had another amazing season. Wasn't trying to dis them with my post, just pointing out they had a terrible night.

I think the worst of it was the 5 or 6 missed layups in the paint.Grizalltheway wrote:No doubt, and I was really pulling for them. 18 percent from the field.SDHornet wrote:Butler had another amazing season. Wasn't trying to dis them with my post, just pointing out they had a terrible night.![]()

Maybe this shows what it now takes to win a D1 championship. A shame that it has come to this.DJH wrote:First Auburn, now Uconn. What a sad year for DI championships.![]()

Uh, no. They had a bad first few minutes of the second half, and THAT's what did them in. The first half was a wash, and Butler even had the lead due to that incredible buzzer-beater. Can't blame the first half on Butler when UCONN lost THAT one.CatBlitz22 wrote:Butler was garbage tonight.

Go back and read your history. College sports has had this problem since the word go.

Well, that is, unless they make the next two title games and lose both of those too. Then they're approaching Buffalo Bills territory.CoachL wrote:Yes, Butler played what might have been their worst game of the season.

18 percent from the field. That's garbage anyway you slice it.SuperHornet wrote:Uh, no. They had a bad first few minutes of the second half, and THAT's what did them in. So you're saying that if Butler hadn't had that crazy 5 min or so to start the second half and held on to win, the 18% would somehow invalidate their title?Grizalltheway wrote:18 percent from the field. That's garbage anyway you slice it.SuperHornet wrote:

Re: Cheaters always win
Umm, first of all, if they hadn't had those 'crazy' 5 minutes, their shooting percentage probably would have been higher. Second, there was NO point in that game where they looked anything like a championship caliber team. Sure, UConn didn't play great by any stretch of the imagination, but Butler somehow out did them in terms of shitty-ness.SuperHornet wrote:So you're saying that if Butler hadn't had that crazy 5 min or so to start the second half and held on to win, the 18% would somehow invalidate their title?Grizalltheway wrote:

Look, I really, REALLY wanted the Bulldogs to pull it off, but they flat out sucked in that particular game. Period.
