Some interesting matchups. Four Big West teams got in, but only one got a home game: AZ St @ UOP. Three of the Big West teams were paired with Pac-12 teams; CSUN was sent to U of San Diego. UCD got OR St and CP got Washington.
Of FCS interest:
MS Valley St @ Tulane
Drake @ South Dakota
UNC @ Colorado
UCA @ OK St
UT-Chattanooga @ Memphis St
Harvard @ Hofstra
High Point @ NC St
App St @ UNC Wilmington
Miami (OH) @ Richmond
Howard @ VA
Davidson @ JMU
I have App in the Round of 16 (upset of NC St in Round 2) before losing to VA. Myopian that I am, I have UOP winning it all, with a win over Wake Forest in the finals.

Northern Colorado loses to Colorado in Boulder, 54-42. Lack of guard production hurt the Bears badly, as D'Shara Strange went 0/10 from the field & Kaisha Brown went 0/7 from the arc. Bench senior Amy Marin had a nice performance, though, registering 8 steals and 5 assists in her final game.

Harvard beat Hofstra in Long Island in a close game, 73-71.

Well, I had UNC losing and Harvard winning. That's about all I have to say until tonight. I'll be at the AZ St-UOP game. UOP had better win because my bracket will be SERIOUSLY up the creek if they don't. I have UOP winning the whole shebang.

The WNIT hosting fee was $6,500. Sounds rather on the cheap side. I'm shocked. How does this compare to the other D-I tournaments?

Mississippi Valley gave Tulane a good scare but came up seven points short 68-61

probably not that much different than other WBB tourneys.
most places don't draw more than a few hundred (or 1K) for womens games.

That sounds at least similar to the experience last night at UOP, Jay. We had nearly 1K out last night.
The refs tried to hand it to ASU early with bogus calls, but ASU kept choking away the gifts through poor shooting and bad ballhandling. When the refs finally figured out late in the first half that UOP wasn't going to fold, they started calling things more evenly. It was a pitcher's duel until 5 min left in the first half, at which point both teams barely had the equivalent of two touchdowns. Both teams started scoring more freely, finishing the first half at 33-24 UOP. The Tigers started running away midway through the second half, opening a 17-point lead before ASU got it back down to a TD's distance. But then ASU went ice cold again, while UOP started getting open again. At the two-minute warning, ASU had to start fouling, and UOP for the most part was hitting free throws. UOP won going away, 77-62. All in all, the second half was MUCH more entertaining than the first, especially if you like offense.
Next up for UOP is a Sunday roadie to U of San Diego at 4 PM. The winner can expect a trip to the winner between Tulane and TX Tech.
The WNIT is a good show. If your teams don't make the NCAAs, this is a fun tournament to do, particularly since one or more additional home games are ALWAYS a good thing between more fans, more food and souvenir sales, and player development.

My bracket is completely busted now. Both my finalsists are out, thanks to JMU and their 84-76win over Wake Forest and U of San Diego's bogus 83-75 win over UOP. There was a more than 2-1 foul mismatch (USD shot 49 free throws to UOP's 21). Even worse than the crappy officials were the homer commentators who were calling UOP dirty all game long while blatantly rooting for a blowout (that never quite materialized). Those chicks ought to be freaking fired.

OK State beat JMU 75-68 to win the WNIT today.
Boys and girls NCAAs are the only hoops tournaments left.
