Rivalry Week for Weber State

The 3-0 Weber State Wildcats play host to the 2-2 Montana State Bobcats Thursday January 15th at the Dee Events Center in Ogden Utah. Then on Saturday January 17th, the Wildcats play host to their rivals the 3-1 Grizzlies from Montana.

Last year the first time the 2 Cats met, Weber State went into Bozeman and came out with a 2 point win 78-76.


When The Bobcats came to Ogden, The Wildcats rallied back from a 35 to 25 halftime deficit to come away with the win 73-63

In the tournament Weber State was awarded the #3 seed, and played the sixth seeded Bobcats for round 3 of the Battle of the Cats, the game was decided in the first 16 minutes as the Wildcats jumped out to a 32 to 7 lead, and came away with the win 65-49, and was awarded the season sweep of the Bobcats.

Round 1 of the Wildcats vs the Grizzlies started in Missoula where the Wildcats got the Montana road sweep with a hair-raising 1 point win 68-67.

In Ogden, the Grizzlies were rewarded with 2 freethrows, and led 2-0 before the game even started, courtousy of a tech foul on Weber for dunking the ball during warmups. But Weber State would end up winning 76-67 and sweeping Montana.

No other teams other than Idaho State has played Weber State more than the Bobcats and Grizzlies.

Thursday will mark the 101st game between these rivals, Weber State leads the series 68-32, and are 43-6 at home against the Bobcats.

Saturday will be the 105th meeting between the Wildcats and the Grizzlies, with Weber State leading the series 61-43, and are 37-14 in Ogden. Montana's 43 wins, are the most against the Wildcats than any other Big Sky team.
